Forums - Sales - Ps3 over taking the 360s growing lead....

Lol dont kid yourselves you all know deep down in your gamer souls that a Final Fantasy VII remake or some kind of sequel being published by sony yet again would be the ultimate c-c-c-c-c-c-combo breaker towards any exclusive game. :P

I actually don't think Sony cares about getting second place at this point. I mean, they majorly f***** up everything for the first year. That's a pretty big hole to climb out of. Add in the insane price tag of the PS3 and the crappy economy and you've got a recipe for disaster if they don't be careful. I think the PS3 is capable of passing the 360 before the next-box launches if it gets a price cut very soon, but if it doesn't, it will probably settle for a near-tie.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

wow i didnt expect a 100k lead for the 360 in one week...This holiday is going to be all Microsoft in the HD war =O

Proud Owner of  a Wii and Xbox 360 and a PS3(When I get the money)

The PS3 is going into it's 3rd holiday season if the 360 is still outselling it. Sony may as well just hold out until the next gen.

The 360 is selling better now because it got a long overdue price cut. They should have cut the price of the 360 about a year ago, it lost momentum because of that, but is now starting to pick it back up.

As I said in an earlier post, I full expect Sony to be the first one to jump to next gen. MS got the jump this gen, Sony used hype and mis-truths to try and get people to wait and it failed. Everyone expected the PS2 to die off last gen and it didnt and cant see the 360 dying off either.

360 would probably hold on till a ps3 price drop which won't be coming till late 2009.

I say PS3 is going to put a massive dent in the 360's lead next year. Killzone 2 and God of War will provide ~2-3 week boosts, FFXIII will give a massive boost in Japan, and Gran Turismo will give a huge leg-up to PS3 sales around the world.

Perhaps for the first time in history, the PS3 clearly has a better lineup than the 360 for a year. Not to mention the price cut... well, take a look at this thread.

Microsoft's got this holiday season, maybe even the whole of 2008, but I say the PS3 will win 2009 for sure.

That is a matter of opinion.  Either way, MS has many great games coming in 09.  Mass Effect 2, Halo 3 Recon, Halo Wars, BioShock 2 (probably multi-plat, but will sell more on 360), Forza 3, as well as many rumored games such as Jade Empire 2.

The price cut is merely a rumor as of yet, but I love how all PS3 die-hards use it as the major reason for the PS3 passing the 360.  Sony cannot afford a significant price cut, and if they drop the price by $50, all Microsoft has to do is release better bundles.  If Sony could somehow pass a $100 price cut, and if that cut made a significant difference, it would only be a matter of a month or two until Microsoft lowers the price and takes back what Sony gained (much like the scenario of 2008).

"but I say the PS3 will win 2009 for sure."

Good for you.  I'm glad your speculation has made a believer out of yourself.  Only time will tell, though.

Sorry bud but your living in dream land if you think Killzone 2 will spark PS3 sales to compete with the 360. Im sick and tired of PS3 fanboys saying this stuff. For the past 2 years they have been saying "wait till xyz comes out". I have yet yo hear one Nintendo or Microsoft fanboy use that line. 2008 had a major MAJOR big name line up for the PS3. Games such as Grand Theft Auto 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2, LittleBigplanet, Gran Turismo:Pro Logue, Call of Duty World At War etc.. etc... you really, REALLY think little old Killzone 2 will help to shift more games then all those titles? You think a game that was even ignored in Sony's press release at E308 will spark that trend? A game thats orgional was widely panned that sold only 32k in its 1st week with 120m consoles to sell to will spark those sales?! Sorry but again can i please have some of what your toking because it must be really good shit to believe that it will happen!

As for the best line-up thing that is your opinion. The 360 has a lot of first time titles coming next year, ones you probably never heard of such as Venetica, Precursors, Dungeon Hero, White Gold, Cry On, Warhound, Theseis, Dead Island, Velvet Assasin etc.. etc.. mixed in with ones you may have heard of such as Huxley, Alan Wake, APB, Knightblade, The Protector, Shadow Harvest, Ninja Blade etc.. Those are all new IP's, all exclusive to 360 and all planned to be out next year. Mix that in with the supposed 20-30 games that have yet to be announced, with the sequels to games such as Mass Effect, to spin off games like Recon and Halo Wars, with the multi-platform games means for 2009 Microsoft have a very unique line-up that in my view show what this gen is all about. New titles that define this generation. Not living off previous generations 50th sequel. The last 2 Games of The year (Gears 2006,Bioshock 2007) were all new games and all exclusive to 360. So i think your very foolish if you think the 360's line-up next year is "weak".

It may over take in a few years but I just wish Sony would fix the PS3's hardware problem so that it could at least equal the 360's...

just remember how many exclusive ps3 has for 2009,

and from 2006-2008, many ps3 exclusive are not moving hardware
and most have bad sales (compare to sales prediction)

also there will be so many multiplaform titles for 2009
that will certainly have better sales for x360, we can call it
multiplatform titles as half exclusive for xbox 360.

just like 2008, Sony will mostly talk talk, and
and the ps3 user will hype hype
and 2008 cycle will begin again in 2009,

No. Fanboy hullaballoo notwithstanding, FFVII remade would probably not even be exclusive (unless it hits on Wii), much less the exclusive to end all exclusives.
