Provided PS3 doesn't grow in units will 360 knocks it out of the park in selling units.

And twelve months ago, PS3 was dead. To even be in contention is good.

I'm sorry, but I just can't understand this spin on the current status of things.  Coming into this generation, the PS3 was expected to BLOW the competition out of the water...no contest.  Now, somehow, we are at this point, where the PS3 surviving is considered a win?  I'm confused, because the fact that 360 is solidly planned in 2nd place from these traditional console powers is far more impressive then ps3 hanging in the game...which it was expected to dominate.  It's kinda saying the Patriots had the best season in going undefeated in the regular season...uh...seems the Giants are the ones who REALLY had a great season, as they were in a place few expected them to be, and they ended up winning it all.

This console war is now getting into an iterative stages, and imho, that’s Microsoft’s strongest suit.  The next console by them is going to be hard to beat…very hard.

360 ate PS3 alive, literally, in the US.
To top it off there are some black friday deals for the 360 and Wii where I don't see ANY for the PS3.

I'm still sticking with a 300k or so win by PS3 by the end of the year.
360 will win next year till Sony drops to $300 and then Sony will get some units back.

At this rate however It's all Microsoft.

It's just that simple.

I'm gonna make a bold pradiction (that goes against my origional thoughts), and claim that 360 will make back it's 1million loss WW and then be a little ahead.

several reasons helped me come to this conclusion:

1) The economy (need I say more?)

2) 360 is now at mass market price, this is bound to spur sales higher then last year.

3) Worldwide: PS3 is down Year over Year - 360 is up Year over Year by a large margin.

4) PS3 in 07 had a price cut at this time to spur sales. There is no pricecut for the PS3 08 holiday to spur sales.

5) PS3 Currently only has Japan for it's lead. Last year PS3 only outsold 360 by 340,000 units - This year sales ar down for PS3 by 50% year on year (weekly)... Refer to point 4.

6) If 360 can keep it's lead in Europe/others for the rest of the year, then it is entirely up to the Americas to make up 1.3 - 1.4 million units extra then PS3.... IF 360 can widen it's lead in Europe/others then that puts even less strain on the Americas.

So there you have it. If all goes as I predict, then 360 will win total 2008 sales.

Although, it's still soooo early so PS3 might change it's fortunes and pick up sales.

It's me...  no really, it IS me!!!

PS3 wins 08. It will be rough on MS who have dropped a wattta cash trying to make 08 the year of the 360 (50 mill DLC on GTA4) only to lose to a console which is twice as expensive? The general public want a new Bluray player/videogame system not a DVD player/videogamesystem. Then a pricecut for PS3 means that 360 will be going the way of HD-DVD. Another 360 pricecut will make it look bargain bin.

Indeed, price is the reason for the double sales this week, too.

PS3 will win this year.

PS3 will win next year by far more.

When it hits $300 and that's if the 360 doesn't drop to counteract it.
$150 will still be half of $300, and $100 is half of $200. Basic math leads to basic results.

BTW the economy is not going to get better next year, but the ball is still in Sony's court.

I'm getting a PS3 eventually regardless. Don't misunderstand me, even as a proud Microsoft supporter I still support Sony products to. Just not at launch.

It's just that simple.

Japan and America Numbers in

PS3 YTD - 7, 762, 380

360 YTD - 6, 783, 612

Un-adjusted Difference:  1, 023, 768

Adjusted YTD

PS3 YTD -7, 731, 017

360 YTD - 6, 883, 619

Adjusted Difference:  847, 398

PS3 adjusted down 31, 363

360 adjusted up 100, 007

This is a neat way of keeping up with adjustments for the holiday season.

I was about to say. The 360 gained 100k just this week, so as sales get closer to Christmas, the sales will increase, and at 100k a week, the 360 will be very close, plus I'm sure they could make up even more ground per week as I mentioned.
