Exactly, especially since ToS: DotNW is out ;) I wonder if sales for that game will increase for the rush.

I went on a big adventure today and two stores I visited didn't even have the game out on shelves yet... >_<   All three of the stores I visited had a very limited quantity.

Anyways...

Today, I visited 2 Best Buys and a Gamestop.  I drove down to Best Buy down in DE (no tax!) with the intention of buying: A DS, NSMB, Zelda:PH, Call of Duty:WaW, Tales of Symphonia:DoTNW, and a few other gadgets.  At the two Best Buys, I saw MOUNTAINS of Wiis... and I saw four people walk out with one.  I also visited another South Philly Best Buy, same thing...  I never saw that many Wiis available for purchase at one time ever.

Also, I never seen so much shovelware in my life.  I mean, good God... there are Wii games out I never even knew existed!

Nintendo probably stockpiled tons of them to release during the Holiday

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I foresee a lot of Wii's going unsold on ebay.

Hmm, are you implying that the Wii has met demand in North America, or do you realize that within 1 week of today, those Wii's will be selling above market value on Ebay once again?

It's impossible for the Wii to meet demand during this holiday season. Impossible. If you can buy a Wii, buy it now, and sell it on ebay during the christmas rush. Period.

Its not impossible if everyone that wanted a wii got one ;p

The likelhood of that is extremely small, we can tell by high grey market sales and pentup demand over the past few years that demand is still much higher than supply, the supply and demand curves are not at equilibrium yet

Still waiting for some more reasons to buy it...

lol, I was using the reasoning that it would be impossible to produce enough Wii's to give everyone who wanted one, a sku.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I've been seeing a lot more Wiis lately too.

Nintendo still doomed?

I hear from friends that it's easier to find one in NYC now. That's not the case where I go to school. In fact, I've yet to see one here in a store. I think smaller cities/towns will still face shortages prior to the Black Friday madness.

I actually think Nintendo has finally succeeded in meeting demand. You can find them almost everywhere, sold for MSRP with no limit per customer. Also, Nintendo claims they will be able to meet demand through December. We'll see.

For the next couple months, Wii sales in America are going to be astronomical.

That is just due to a large shipment. Supply can spike, deman is constant. Claiming that demand is met during a spike, a historical time in which demand is always met for a limited period, is called coincidental reasoning.

Coincidental reasoning is when you base assumptions that could be true upon constants that would be true with or without the variable in question.

In other words, the Wii being in stock during a huge supply shipment proves nothing, and claiming that demand is met based upon that non-proof is invalid reasoning. It certainly could be true, however, but it can't be proven, nor even be made valid by these methods.
