Its a fun party game system but it just doesnt have all the needed values of a great game system. I do think that it will still sell alot. Here is my predictions for the video game consoles sellings by the end of this gen PS3----------56,000,000 Wii-----------48,000,000 Xbox 360---26,000,000 |
Well, that does it. If everybody this guy knows is tired of it, the Wii doesn't have a chance.
Ok got shot a few times then but WiiSports was a free pack in except in Japan which it was a major game and Wiisports2 would sell in Japan but will it sell in the West possibly but it wont be the big hit WiiSports is.WiiMusic2 that wont sell.WiiPlay2 now that would sell.WiiSnowboard i would buy that would be AMAZING.WiiSkateboard would be cool aswell.Hope they do those titles using the Wiiboard.I get the point now they sell but will they sell aswell as the originals or if they arent packin with something(WiiSports with console outside Japan,WiiPlay free with extra Wiimote)We will have to wait for WiiMusic,WiiFit and what ever else they can come up with.

Xbox One: 7-10 million
Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)
There's only 1 way Nintendo is gonna lose (but somehow actually wins) this console war:
Ahh... You're confused now... Well, let me explain:

Earns a lot of cash with:

They even earn so much that they end up buying:

And Microsoft has:

Nintendo puts their logo on the X360:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nintendo lowers the price to 249.99$.

ONLY 249.99$.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And when Casuals hop on because of the Nintendo logo:
X360 wins and Nintendo wins too cuzz they own the X360!

The Sims (Doll House Game), Animal Crossing (Life Simulation), Harvest Moon (Farm Simulation), Nintendogs (Pet Simulation), Guitar Hero (Musical Game), DDR (Dance Game), Railroad Tycoon (Model Railroad Simulator), Sim City (City Simulation), and Civilization (History based Strategy Game) are all games created from ideas that had people claiming there was no value because they had a 'very small target audience' ... Up until recently, who would have thought that a surgery or attorny game would be popular enough to justify their development costs. I'm not saying that my game ideas are particularly good, but I would lay money that I could develop all of my game ideas for less than the cost of a mid-range PS3 and XBox 360 game and probably sell more games; someone like Miyamoto (who has created tons of games that were unconventional at the time) could probably come up with enough ideas to keep the Wii with a steady supply of unconventional games for years to come. |
Add to the list PW (court sim) and Capcom is working on a stock market sim.

It depends on how to define "win".
If it means market share, probably Nintendo will "win", whether you like it or not. The core gaming audience is insignificant in terms of size compared to the mainstream.
Microsoft will probably try to come up with some new interface to capture casuals, but it's going to be too late unless a) they release it within a year or less, b) they make the hardware more reliable and cheaper, and c) 3rd party developers have been developing a lot of quality casual titles in sync with new interface.
Sony, I don't know. They will satisfy core gamers with core games in 2008. But that's not going to let them "win" once Pandora's box of casual gaming is fully opened.

So is PS2s 120 million user base insignificant ? +1.2 billion in software sold.
Casual dont buy enough games to be that biog a deal.
Nintendo buying MS.. haha. Actually, I could almost see Sony buying Nintendo and marketing the Nintendo as the "casual" brand complementary to the Playstation "hardcore" brand. Microsoft could also do it, but I see it being less likely due to Microsoft being an American company, and just that I really don't want to see it happen.
Then again, Microsoft is quite possibly moving towards its second failure trying to enter the console market. They may just decide it's easier to just buy out a company who knows what they're doing, than to keep trying to compete (it wouldn't be the first time - if they don't, it would actually be one of the few times they didn't)
Anyway, as to the actual topic of this thread, it depends on what you mean by "Win". I could easily see the Wii not "winning" if you determine "winning" as a combination of actual console install base and attach rate (this is definitely how Nintendo, and even moreso Sony and Microsoft look at it - money). Casuals don't buy as many games.
As far as "winning" being just install base, I can't really see the Wii not "winning." By the time the PS3 and 360 get below $200, the Wii will be so cheap that anyone who plays games will probably be able to justify purchasing the system just to play a single game. This, however, also doesn't help attach rates.
