And when it flops, PS3 will be a laughing stock, and publishers are going to lose faith in the PS3 Hardcore. Whose fault is this?

Yours. You decided to hold one single game up as our only hope of hardcore gaming. You decided to talk about Killzone 2 as if it were the next Half Life or Gears of War.

Just sober up for a second, stop looking at the screenshots, and consider who is making this game.

Here's a list of AAA games Guerilla has made:

(crickets)

Here's a list of FPS games Guerilla actually made original content for:

Killzone 70 avg score
Killzone Liberation 73 avg score
Shellshock Nam: 58 avg score

Guerilla makes bad games, not the worst - I'm sure they're one or two steps above shovelware, but they're bad.

And yes, it's true they're making an honest attempt to become a legit gaming company. They've done some great things graphically and control-wise. They're putting their hearts into this game, but come on, it's their first real try, and putting all of your PS3 hopes into this one game is RETARDED.

Since this is becoming the subject of this thread, to tell it honestly killzone 2 have lost its luster since E3 2006 anyway. The only ones hyping this game are hardcore SONY fanboys that somehow this game can be a system seller. But even fanboys of PS3 knew its game over for them, better switch to 360...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

frybread your logic doesn't work for one main reason. HVS themselves have come out and said that previously their projects have usually had time constraints that have been dictated by the publisher etc. Whereas with this game they have taken their time and really worked on it. They earned enough money to fund this game entirely by themselves. They specifically left getting a publisher until as late as possible so they could get the best terms for themselves and makesure they weren't rushed.

Even if valve were making a game if you said to them. Okay it's got to be 12 hours long and we need it in 15months. It wouldn't be an amazing game.

It's pretty unfair to judge HVS by games they were given to make rather than games they wanted to make. It seems the games where maybe they weren't under such pressure turned out well. I.e. Hunter the reckoning.

The conduit should certainly be a very solid FPS if nothing else.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

hopefully the conduit will be good. im not expecting great, but i want it to atleast be an 80+ average score (though you can't trust reviews these days because sites are biased.)

but that comment about Killzone 2- exactly. Killzone 1 wasnt a great game... why is there so much hype for Killzone 2 anyway? Whatever.

He just says that dont be too overhyped with this game like its the second coming. It'll be good it'll be bad but dont feel that this game will be like COD 4 or Gears of War, it'll never happen. Theyre a small developer after all who wants to hype the Quantum engine and wants someone to publish their game on the Wii.

The only Nintendo Hardcore games that have even hit a million that aren't made BY NINTENDO are Resident Evil games, Sonic & The Secret Rings, and Red Steel (which the last one only made it because they came out around launch time). Now that that's been said, most games that are awesome and DO get hype on here for the Wii do not even crack a million (BoomBlox, Zack & Wiki, No More Heroes, de Blob).

Granted. Also irrelevant. Apart from The Conduit and Red Steel, I can't think of any "hardcore" (ugh...) third party Wii games that have had tremendous hype. And to paraphrase your own post, if you mention BoomBlox, Zack & Wiki, No More Heroes, and/or de Blob "then I know you are clueless what you're talking about" because none of those received a lot of hype from the developers, let alone the general public.

Unless you're referring to game reviews, which I've got Lair...and Haze...for the PS3 that were overhyped and got slammed. If this is the case, if you mention LittleBigPlanet or Resistance 2 then I know you are clueless what you're talking about because both are standing above an 85 on Metacritic and Gamerankings and both have a good chance of at least hitting a million.

Oh, I'm not. Game reviews don't seem to mean jack. Wii Sports is in the 70's on Metacritic, but damned it's the biggest system-seller since the original Super Mario Bros. On the flipside, Okami's 90+ rating makes it the darling of the critics. Too bad it never got the sales to reflect that "august" title.

More importantly, aggregate review scores are tangential to this thread's thesis, i.e. that a game flopping in sales will discourage future development on that platform.

I'm not saying that PS3 fans don't over exaggerate their hopes for PS3 games but when it comes down to it, all of the consoles have their high and low marks.

This is the best part of your post, and one I agree with wholeheartedly. For maximum effect, however, you should have brought up Wii Music in it, as a good counterexample. Mind you, that still doesn't address the fact that "PS3 fans have held up many, many other games as their hope for hardcore gaming" in addition to Killzone 2, which I take it is the sentence you find most objectionable.

That's definitely what I plan to do.  Once your favorite system doesn't sell well enough its obvious that you have to move on to another one.  It's what I like to call the "total toolbag who follows general public opinion without a single bit of selfworth and can't make a decision on what he likes more without looking at sales" system.  It's worked well for me up 'til now, so I guess I'd better keep to it.

...

i agree that hype is what eventually puts pie on fanboy's faces.  im not convinced by the Wii yet as a hardcore gamer console. 1st person on the Wii is dead.  The Conduit is making me a skeptic but lets see how this game turns out. im not too impressed by it, yet.

KZ2 will be a game on par with Halo 3. Both piss all over what the Wii has or will ever have in terms of shooters. As for better switch to 360, that's something more fitting for a Wii owner, not a PS3 one.

I don't think it will flop. I expect around an 80-85% on metacritic/gamerankings. Not that good, but good enough to show people that the Wii has potential.
