I think you mean to say the 360 is now 5.84 million ahead but as soon as the big pop in sales from Gears and the lesser one from Fable 2 wear off in the next couple of months, the 360's lead over the PS3 will begin to decline at least as fast as it did during the majority of 2008 when the 360's lead was cut from 7 million to 5.3 million. However with Sony having the best games in the market on any console coming exclusively to the PS3 over the next six months, then one would expect a much more rapid decline in the 360's lead than the one that was seen in 2008.

 So, one means I, correct?

Dude, you're way too obsessed with this. Whether Ps3 passes X360 doesn't matter now. I'm not going to say to you that the Ps3's games aren't the best, as that could take away your interest in the games. Still, you're clearly biased here. You find that the Ps3 has the best games, but I'm pretty sure that's not the popular opinion.

Sorry, the Ps3 didn't take off this time, but that's not the end of the world.

The 360 will sell less in 2009 than this year. Unless of course theres another price cut. I doubt there will be a sub $200 360 in 2009.

But seriously, starting 2009 the battle between Sony and Microsoft will not center around the games. Sony executives had admitted that the age of exclusively is over. The vast majority of the titles are 3rd parties and buying exclusivity is just to expensive for anyone.

Microsoft's 1st party exclusive may still matter. Halo and Gears are huge. Sony still has to show a defining titile that will cause people to stand in lines at midnight. If they could not show it after two years, I am not sure it is ever going to happen.

But regardless, the 1st party titles are pretty much insignificant in the grand scheme at this point int he game. The majority of the block busters are 3rd parties and they will all publish to both the 360 and PS3.

So if it is not the games then what is it?

PRICE: A huge factor. If you can get 95% of the games on both platforms but one is half priced than the other which will you buy?

FRIENDS: Which is the system that your friends are playing on? Here the early leader has the advantage of virtous cycle. The more people are on the platform, the more friends will be there too will will drag in their friends. Friends are not just real-life friends but also network friends. The 360 has both the unit numbers advantage and the LIVE network advantage. Moreover, some of the PS3 install base is using the system primarily as a Blu-Ray player where they don't care about their social network and they don't contribute to the player network of the PSN.

It is really hard to see how Sony can overcome these disadvantages.

2009 will show that it is game over - Sony will never catch up.

Have you looked at http://www.gamerankings lately? The PS3 has the highest rated game on any console in this gen. It also has the highest rated game on any console during the holiday season. Over the last year, the PS3 has been putting out far more 80 and above rated games than the 360. Not counting Live Acrade games, the 360 has only had one exclusive to score above a 90 this year.

It will pass the 360 by March of 2010. The peak of the current lead by the 360 will be less than 6.5 million. The 360 only managing to outsell the PS3 during Gears 2 release week by 42,000 consoles isn't very impressive. FFXIII PS3 Japanese version will shave a million units off of the 360's lead by itself.

Yet LOOK at the sales ;) even with these AWESOME PS3 games coming out lately its getting outsold by the 360 ... so why do you think the other AWESOME PS3 games next year will change things?

thats a target i think the 360 can hit with ease. with the known titles they have plus the ones we dont know about and the 3rd party titles and most likely a $50 price drop on the 60 and 120 gig models, i think they can hit the 40 million sell through, be the end of 09. and a lifetime sales of around 75 million.

Just like the PS3 people seem to be counting out LBP, but like quite a few of the Wii games, LBP will wind up with legs. Especially with a PSP version, so unlike another game that will be dominant on the charts until the release of the next big exclusive shooter on the other console, LBP will still be racking up sales a year from now like games like Wii Fit and Wii Sports. And the PS3's games have taken up 3 of the top 10 spots in the Japanese charts the last two weeks and they put it over the 20,000 mark two weeks in a row in Japan. Better sales for the PS3 in Japan equals better Japanese exclusives coming to the PS3 in Japan which leads to better sales for the PS3 worldwide. On the other hand, how are Wii Music and GTA IV 360 Japan doing in comparison?

The age of exclusivity isn't over. And as I've pointed out, the PS3 has by far the best exclusives of any console headed its way in 2009. Final Fantasy XIII is exclusive to the PS3 in Japan and it will take a huge chunk out of the 360's worldwide lead. The same with Final Fantasy Versus XIII. The same with Gran Turismo 5, Team ICO Project, White Knight Chronicles, Infamous, Killzone 2, and God of War III. Also games like the next projects from Naughty Dog and Insomniac. How do I know how these games will turn out? Easy history. Go find one developer of any game that is coming exclusively to the 360 on IGN's 360 release dates list that has produced a game that has received higher scores than games fromTeam ICO, Naughty Dog, and Insomniac, and I will be shocked. Most of the exclusives that I looked at there....their developers had never even made any games before. And of course with the PS3's fortunes improving in Japan, that just means more Japanese exclusives coming to the PS3 as I pointed out above.
