Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 5 showing promblems!

I was watching a 12 hour race on tv the other day...I saw a Ferrari go off track, through the sand pit and right before it hit the tire barrier they put a big black censor bar over the crash...(no, not serious)...

Who hasn't seen a ferrari crash in a race...ok, no hands raised....screw ferrari.

This is a fail thread.

Even if the game had no damage whatsoever it would still be the best racing game of the generation.

I don't know, GT 5 prologue was terrible and wasn't a racing game at all -- it was all about bumping your way around a track.  That's how you got the fastest times.

Forza games are racing sims.  GT games lean a lot more toward arcade racing.  This isn't really a debatable point.  It's just a fact.

Do all the Automobile companies have these same issues? i.e , they all dont give permission for showing damage?

see this is BS, there were games doing damage before gt with licence from maufaturers jerret and labonte stock car racing. and have been afterward. forza. this smacks of double talk used to lie to people when removing features. I always felt J&L stock car was better than GT and never understood why GT took of when J&L didnt. go play the two and you  will see J&L was better much better

I suspect many are going to argue that 'fact' with you, particularly as you don't really back it up with anything concrete.

OT - maybe it's me but the idea of a 'problem' with the game is something specific to the game code - i.e. they're having trouble getting damage physics into their game engine.  Not that they're finding it difficult to neg allowing damage with the car manufacturers.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

It'll be GT1 again. Every single GT game has been GT1. They don't change.

Yeah, they don't change.... except for the tuning options, tracks, cars, physics, reward systems, and online modes. How many of these GT games have you actually sat down with? Coming off that ignorant post, I'd say zero.

1,2 and 4.

The changes between games are on the level of a patch.  The fact people keep buying each version says a lot about the attention span of the masses.

I played first game to death, I bought the second and was bored within hours, it was near identical.  I skipped 3 because was just a graphic update, and I bought 4 long after release second hand for about £5 thinking the series might have changed enough.  I was the same game near enough, graphic update the biggest change.

You can't be serious. GT is a racing sim, what kind of overhaul do you expect? Even if they add damage, it will still be for the most part the "same game" as you put it. The level of tuning options were huge improvements from GT2 > GT3 > GT4, and the tracks also improved. Even with GT5P's online, why in the world would you mention that they've all been the same game. GT has always been a racing sim, so the only way they could improve the series is by providing more options and "realism" with each iteration. Are you hunting for a gimmick?

You're argument is the same as saying "every football game is the same, you kick a ball into the goal... except this year, it's more realistic".

Wait, the car companies actually have to damage their own car, or show one that is damaged, to these developers?

Can't the developers just use their imagination? Does the damage really have to be perfectly realistic for each individual car? Damn that's really paying attention to detail.. :P

@Bolded- Thats what The Gran games do best for each gen. :)

They could...oh ...I dunno...change the progression system so you don't do the exact same thing every game, and I mean change the actual system, not just how the menus look?

Add new game modes instead if the same standard long-since-become dull-and-boring ones they keep doing over and over?

I really don't suggest comparing it to a football game, FiFa for instance. Buying those each year for such little change is a waste of money too.

As I said before, changes that can be made with a patch do not justify a whole new game. The GTA series has been mostly patch worthy updates besides the graphics when switching consoles.

Think about what you just said smartass.

That still wouldn't fix your "problem". GT is a racing sim. People play GT for the racing and gameplay, not for the "progression system". Your definition of "overhaul" is just a gimmick. If you find racing boring and need reason to unlock cars and progress through the game, then you clearly have no clue what you're talking about and are playing the game for the wrong reason. Regardless, with the exception of GT4, I was well satisfied with the game and improvements made from the prior versions.

Changing the "progression" of the game has less meaning than improving graphics (the second biggest aspect of a sim), and yet you think that's supposed to make things "different". What you're asking for is a new gimmick to distract you from actually playing the game.

Come up with a better example to back your argument next time.

As long as PD keeps improving their signature detail to the licenses and improve the gameplay (which I think needs alot of improving), the game would be worthy of new sequel. That's the entire point of a racing sim, to be more realistic with each iteration.

how did he do it, they are so many poligone on this car!!!

Final Fantasy huge... watch my collection

Oh... Final Fantasy huge only on SONY system !
