I still don't see how anyone still thinks PS3 will catch up. How many "savior" games need to come and go before everyone realizes that the PS3 is never going to blow up to the point it will catch 360? Lair, Warhawk, GT5:Prologue, Ratchet, Uncharted, DMC4 and GTA IV on their "original homes", Metal Gear, Little Big Planet, etc. etc. have all been the "key" to getting sales going.

With the exception of MGS4, none have really made an impact.

Maybe Final Fantasy AND Gran Turismo 5 make an impact, but now that 360 has FFXIII, it's not a big deal. Japan won't make up those numbers.

They are almost behind as much in North America as they have sold TOTAL in their best territory. Sony screwed it up. They have the best hardware, easily. But they are learning that, like last gen, when Xbox was arguably the best hardware, that this means nada.






Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

In a way, but if Microsoft releases a new Halo or something to that effect, that can almost completly offset Gran Turismo 5. It does have a good 2 price cuts left though.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Highly doubt that will touch the impact of GT5,  unless Halo 3: Recon gets a good amount of hype behind it before releasing.

Price matters more than launch times. Saturn beat PS1 to launch, but its $400 price tag vs $300 price tag and lack of early games killed it. Over time, PS1's price lead remained as it continued to cut its price. It stands to reason that next year the 360 pro will be $250, thus keeping the $100 price difference between the standard PS3 and 360 models.

remember crazzyman does not live in our world, he lives in a tank at sony hq where he is treated to the very best sony has in exchange for posting on multiple boards o keep sonys rep up.... he is actually where all the losses come from in the sony gaming division, as modding a ps3 to work with a sharks mind, and making a special tv was very expensive

The probelm is Sony 1st party can't make enough games for PS3 to be self-sufficient. If they somehow had Rare all gen, and Sony Japan actaully did something other than make Loco Roco and Patapon, they would be absoulty fine in terms of games. In terms of PS3 vs Xbox though, PS3's current library> Xbox's enrie library.
