Forums - Sales - Pathetic Symphonia 2 marketing.

I regret making this thread. This game is incredibly average, and painfully stupid. It's one of those games that screams "last gen". Horrible graphics, dull characters and stupid VA...ugh. Can't believe i bought it.

However i'm enjoying Last Remnant, so if there's anyone on the fence...you should check it out!

I'm the opposite right now, having just started Last Remnant and played it for awhile, I have to say Symphonia 2 grabbed my attention better.

Tales of Symphonia 2 is slightly above average for me, and Last Remnant is slight below average based on the first few hours, hopefully it will pick up, and one of them is a $60 verses one game that is $40.

that's a stupid mindset to have, i'm not saying this game is going to sell liek friggin FF..it's not but peopel(even namco) were surprised by the first symphonia's sales..it did very very well, this is a sequel to a gamethat did very well. Symphonia on GC is the best selling tales game in US by a mile, that's because GC had almost zero JRPG's and they marketed it fairly well...why not do it with this because it's on a more popular platform(Wii is FAR more popular than GC) AND the wii also has almost no JRPG's...if any good games at all.

I do not understand your argument that Tales of Symphonia sold well on the GameCube because it was one of the few RPGs on the system. Actually the argument does not make sense. Obliviously Gamers knew that the GameCube lacked RPGs therefore they did not purchase the Gamecube to play RPGs. Thus the inverse of your argument would happen. But Tales of Symphonia actually is a very good game that sold well because of word of mouth. Kinda like Halo, the original, on the Xbox.

Secondly, the team that created Tales of Symphonia also developed Tales of Vesperia, which many have proclaimed as their game of the year. At least until Fallout 3 released.

Give Team Symphonia some credit for making a great game. That's the true reason why the game sold so well.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

You think ToS sold well because of word of mouth? That's a load of crap. It sold well because not only was it good it was one of the very FEW RPG's on the friggin GC. Tales of the Abyss is as good as symphonia for a lot of peopel(not me) and that games sales were abysmal. Vesperia doesn't seem to be doing that well despite it being well recieved too.

Maybe Namco doesn't care that much since it's a spin off they didn't bother to advertise Vesperia either so I say lets wait until the mothership title comes to the wii.

Namco are asses when it comes to marketing Tales games. And they wonder why they always get crappy sales in NA....

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

I saw numerous ToV ads in EGM. It probably is what made me buy the game.

Well, it sold much better in Japan.

What Abyss? Yeah it did. But don't you find it odd how Symphonia sold almost half a million on GC in NA alone when Abyss sold next to nothing? With a 3x bigger userbase?

Tales of the Abyss was released near FFXII and ToV didn't have TV ads.  IU did and even that game didn't sell very well in the US.

No, no one finds it odd because Namco's brilliant strategy of releasing it right before FF12 worked wonders.
