This is insane. What in the world makes you think the PS3 will last 3 years longer than the 360? You do realize a huge majority of the software sold on both HD consoles are multiplatform, right? The multiplatform games' sales will favor the 360 for a very long time.

OT: As for Sony being "doomed", of course not. However, are they in danger of staying in 3rd place forever? I would say so. The 360 isn't as dead in Others as everyone thought it was. Keep in mind, that it really doesn't matter who sells more hardware anyhow.

OK maybe not 3 year but at least 2 let's not forget that the 360 came out a year ealier and Blu-ray is a pretty good advantage.  Also as far as I know MS started the development on their next console as soon as the 360 came out.

@Chris - each of the companies started research on their next consoles as soon as they launched this gens.

Plus, why would Microsoft kill the 360 as soon as they release their next console?? It's making them money unlike the previous effort. The PS2 continues to live on and subsequently offsets what would have been even heavier losses for sony.

Pretty much every company starts development on their new product once they release something. You think Sony R&D has just been twiddling their thumbs since the PS3 was released? Of course not, they've been working on the PS4/updating the PS3/updating the PSP (and probably working on a PSP2 as well if they decide to release that)
