Forums - Gaming - What Made You Buy Your Console?

I bought my xbox 360
number one reason GAMES.. Gears of War, GRAW, R6V
Technical assets
Superior online play

I think the 1 year early launch helped my decision. I got my 360 early on and the PS3 games at launch were not my cup of tea and the 360 already had a small library,

I never buy for loyalty, no company will EVER be loyal to me.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8.

EDIT: Well, maybe not 8. God of War, Ratchet and Clank and Team Ico make three.

PS3 if you hadn't guessed already...

Zelda at launch.

PS3 - Blu-Ray was a great excuse to buy a 1080p HDTV. Ever since, SD res is no longer acceptable. I'd like to say it was the games, but when I bought it back in Jan 2007, the only one worth playing was Resistance for the better part of the year. PS2 BC was actually worth having back then. Also, was a very impressive piece of kit on paper, regardless of how well it was or wasn't being used by developers.

Wii - the hype, the novelty of motion controls, which fell short of unrealistic expectations and Wii Sports. Fun to look for since it was never in stock anywhere, plus it was only $250. And of course, Zelda and Metroid.

360 - Wasn't interested in buying one until the library of games had many titles I was interested in playing. QC reports were a big turn off. After noting that all my favorite games on the platform were also available for Windows, I rebuilt a video editing/media rig into a gaming rig.

Price and a different experience from my PC, but mostly price.

For all 3 major consoles: Games. Plain and simple.

The day that Devil may cry 4 was announced to be going mutiplat was the day i decided to get a 360 (was possibly gonna buy a 2nd hand ps3 instead at some stage) And i aint looked back since....... Gears, Crackdown PGR and Smackdown vs Raw 2007 were my first four games, Since then i discovered that Virtua tennis 3 and Virtua fighter 5 (Two of my fave franchises) Have online Multiplayer for the 360 but they don't have online multiplayer for the "other" console............ Been a huge fan of the Sega megadrive and Sega Dreamcast has made my 360 purchase all the more worth while, I can now play megadrive classics (some of them online) Like Sonic 1 & 2, Streets of rage 2, Golden axe ect and i can play 3 of the Best games EVER made for the Dreamcast in Ikaruga, Rez HD and Soul calibur. I like the option of been able to listen to my own favourite custom soundtrack whilst burning down the road on Ridge racer 6 and lastly The 360 controller for me is the 2ND best controller of all time (With the Sega saturn pad and Megadrive 6 button pad been joint number 1)

So in conclusion i am chuffed to bits with my purchase and with the sheer amount of games available for it that are both New and Old and with the upcoming releases i see my 360 keeping me happy for many years to come.

I love nintendo

Ps3 wasn't on the market at the time I got my 360.

So definitely not brand loyalty from my perspective.

In saying that I am glad I got the 360 now.

DS- I wanted Nintendo's new first party games, though expected the console to fail.
DS Lite- I broke my top screen on my DS

Wii- I thought the Wii remote would make games fresh and more fun (boy was I wrong) and I wanted Nintendo's first party games, and I expected it to be sucessful and therefore have better games than gamecube (more sucess, the same or worse games imo)

PSP- I wanted about 25 games and that seemed like plenty reason, considering they are all $10-$20 used.

360- Banjo Kazooie+Viva Pinata+ Halo+ Tales of Vesperia+ Fable 2+ Multiplats like Burnout paradise and elder scrolls oblivion

PS3- Blu Ray player, Disgaea 3, Valkeryia Chronicles, Little BIg planet, plus some other fun looking games like heavenly sword and uncharted and warhawk and resistance. (haven't bought a PS3 yet though)
