Forums - Gaming - Five reasons why the Wii won this generation

7. Supply constraints - People always want what they cannot have. By carefully tuning supply to remain just shy of demand, Nintendo has compelled millions of people to buy the Wii for the best game of all: Inciting envy in others. The Wii is the first console to offer intense customer satisfaction without actually needing to be hooked up to a television. Just displaying it in the living room allows the Wii owner to bask in the jealousy of friends and strangers alike.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

You're kidding, right?

Is the Wii going to have negative sales and the other systems triple in sales or something?

8. Toaster Functionality - In the looming financial crisis, people have to make cutbacks. Going through the mind of every adult right now "Do I buy a console or a toaster?". Well, the Wii solves this problem perfectly by offering both in one cost effective package! Ever felt the need for some toast while playing Super Mario? Now, you can get it without walking the long distance to the kitchen that probably burns more calories than an hour of Wii Fit!

That's funny to read and some points are true, like the girls' part. I'm not joking.

That was sort of amusing, but this is the gold:

The war is not finish, PlayStation win on last generation, Sony will win again with PlayStation3.

I agree with everything except point 4.

If point 4 were true, what happened in the N64, Gamecube era and what's happening the PS3 now?

Anyway, I think you missed a big one for point 1: Ipod and Macbooks. They're probably the biggest example of "IT" items.

Also, I think point 1 is the biggest reason. Because so many people buy it, much like the ipod and macbook (who, let's face it, if you've been using windows for the past ten years, is a bitch to get used to), it being complicated to play wouldn't matter.

I've had uncles and aunties try it just because another uncle/aunty did and they didn't want to seem dumb in comparison (for not being able to play it).

It is true: Wii, now everybody can play.

Wii surely won and market won't change (sorry PS fanboys). Seriously things use to be more balanced in the beggining - http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=GC&reg1=All&cons2=PS2&reg2=All&cons3=XB&reg3=All&weeks=48
- but even in year 1 wii clearly managed to win - http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=Wii&reg1=All&cons2=PS3&reg2=All&cons3=X360&reg3=All&weeks=48

:P

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game
