OMFG stop this shit... the ps3 had been a powerfull i own it, its my favorite console this gen... but its only optimization what makes it look good but the ps3 was design with 3 year old pc hardware... the ps3 is not going to be as powerfull as a pc get that damn straight and stop making this silly posts... you pay for what you get... now the top pc hardware of 2 years ago is very accesible... which leaves you with greater performance with a medium configuration..

dont get me wrong i love my ps3 but man i cant get why people cant understand that the ps3 is not a machine of the future.... newer pc hardware is always going to be stronger... do you think that ati, nvidia, amd and intel are releasing hardware that is slower... NO they always are pushing and pushing the performance... belive me the cell and rsx are not a gift from the future its just good hardware but nothing compared to a good pc of this days...

oh and one last thing I LOVE MY PS3 but if it is so strong then why I can run crysis on 1080p and i never get framerate issues as i do with MGS4 with my ps3 that just cant stay high on the frames when there is too much action on the screen just think about that....

Again, someone build a PC with $400 that outperforms the PS3, that's the only fair comparison, I know it can be done but i'm curious of the combinations, i won't do it because my gaming rig cost wayyyyy more (too much power there)...

That's not a fair comparison. A $400 PC needs to be built. If it's built that means you are buying the parts at a premium. They aren't being sold to you at a loss. The PS3 is sold at a loss until we are told otherwise.

Did you just give permission to ban you to any mod as long as they've played Uncharted?

The sad thing is the PS3 and XBox 360 perform in a similar range to my 3 year old PC (Athlon X2 3800+ and Geforce 7800GT) and Squilliam's Chumpzilla ( http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=47030 ) was a $327 PC which outperforms my PC by a wide enough margin to easily claim that it should outperform both the PS3 and XBox 360. Certainly, everything in that PC was on sale, but I think that is a good balance for the PS3 being sold at a loss.

@OP

I hate to break it to you but the 360 has a superior video card, twice the XDR RAM and a higher disc read speed. Hardware reliability issues aside, the 360 is great for gaming whereas the PS3 has a disc format that can not be properly utilized due to slow read speeds. It also doesn't help that the PS3 has too little XDR memory and a CPU which is too powerful to be of any use to multi-platform games. A good quad core CPU, 1 gig of XDR RAM, a dual SLI video card and a HD DVD player would have made for a better gaming console this gen for far less money. Sony shot itself in the foot when they used the PS3 as a vehicle for Blu-ray and the Cell instead of making a proper gaming system. BTW, you can't call me a 360 fanboy because I don't own one.

I just don't see as many story-driven games on the PC as there have been on Playstation consoles over the last few years. The few story-based PC games tend to be mmorpg which aren't usually story-based games at all but just series of quests set in a world that don't tell stories in the form of a typical plot triangle with a beginning, middle, and end or shooters with stories tacked on. Things were different in the golden age of PC gaming when the most popular games were being made by the likes of LucasArts Adventure Game Studios, Sierra-On-Line with Roberta Williams, and the Lowes, and Infocom with all of its awesome text based games. But stories like those just don't seem to show up these days in PC games and when they do they don't usually have th budgets of games like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

@bouzane: Well, you do have to give it to Sony for "winning" the silly HD format war though, even if the PS3 has suffered because of it.

@Paul-Warren:  The PS3 has a good variety of games, but we're talking hardware here.

If you actually look at the PC's line-up over the past 12 months, you will see many story driven games that were released for it:

Are you serious? That's not the PS3's fault, that's on the developer. Any logical individual knows this, however I'm guessing, YOU DONT!

How come when a 360 port doesn't has equal rock textures, it's all about the hardware, but when a PS3 port crashes, has a bad frame-rate, and looks worse, it must be lazy developers.

The Cell is just a buzz word for "hard to use processor that isn't anywhere nearly as powerful as we promised."

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
