Forums - Nintendo - Is Wii Music too hard for the core gamers?

I think most people simply aren't interested in what this game has to offer. It's likely most people don't even care about making music, but rather pretend like they're capable of it (Guitar Hero does this extremely well).

Wii Music doesn't even have any set goals, which doesn't help. This is why people make the "it isn't a game" argument, because it holds some truth. It has more in common with a musical instrument than videogames, so it's no surprise most core gamers aren't interested. I think the difficulty is irrelevant either way, there are surely some people that can play the game well, but still be uninterested.

I wouldn't say it's hard for core player, but the stimulai required are different. Core games have focused primarly on visual cues. Wii music focuses on inside audio emotional cues. Once you become really used to one it may be difficult to grasp the other, but not impossible. If you also had other hobbies like playing music or something then you are likely have the senses already.

So for those that aren't way to focused on cues will be much easier. They can still be core players.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Honestly I don't think it has anything to do with not being able to grasp the game. I honestly think that some core gamers simply do not care enough to do so.
They will get to a more difficult part and say, "Why am I trying to do this?" Motivation has a lot to do with overcoming difficulty and I really do not see the motivation besides being a perfectionist.

Now, getting the top score in the world in a game like superstardust looks like it is much more impressive feat for one. And secondly, seems much more available to the public. Someone can simply look up a score. someone can't look up a song score, especially in a game that doesn't use scores!!!!

Why they did not make this game like mario paint music editor i will never know. maybe in wii music pt 2...

my point is, what is the reward ringo? WHY would someone do that, when they could do it in real life with their OWN songs? Making a song is just so accessible.

Why would they do it? Because it's a way to express yourself musically without knowing how to play an instrument.

Your argument is bogus, by the way. So you claim you can create a remix right now if you want to? Good for you - most people have neither the patience nor the skill to pull of such a feat. Indeed, I doubt you could make anything decent with the way you treat the art of composition. Fact of the matter is that most people can't create good music without hours/days/months of arduous practice. By denying the skill needed to craft music, you effectively insult all the world's composers/performers.

I am a musician, and I intend to purchase Wii Music. It should be a great way to improvise and find new ways to look upon old songs. I do wish there was a way to create your own songs – or at least your own chord progressions, and that one could control the pitch of the instruments. Downloadable content would have been nice too. I’ll make do without that, however – maybe they will turn up in Wii Music 2.

You're missing a major point of the game - to "feel" the music. Yeah, there's probably a better way to explain it, but the point is they would not have created this game if it weren't for the Wiimote/nunchuck. They exaggerated this particular selling point in E3 (yeah... I know).

Personally I believe that making or playing music in video games is a complete waste of time. I think guitar hero, rock band and wii music are all horrible games. It has nothing to do with how easy or difficult any of them are as I can master any game if I am motivated to do so. However, I see zero motivation in pretending to be a musician in a game. First off, I have zero interest in music at all, I have never thought that playing instruments or singing was something special. I always thought it would be boring, and frankly, the people in band in school were dorks...

you are way too personally involved in this. trying to convince you of anything would be instant failure. Don't get so upset. Ok so it would take me a while to make a good sounding song on protools. And it would take me a while to make a good sounding composition on wii music. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? You have no answer, all you have is attacking me and my logic in order to debunk my argument, because the question is unanswerable.

"way you treat the art of composition"

"you effectively insult all the world's composers/performers"

You never answered the question you just attacked me. People say wii music is hardcore at a certain level. I say "Ok then, why do that when you can spend the same amount of time making an actual song of your own composition? It may not be a great song Oh Master musician Helios, but at least it is MINE, it is my song, i made it, me.

"Here guys listen to this song I made, I'm really proud of it. It took me a long time I hope you enjoy it."

instead of:

"Hey guys listen to how I arranged the instruments on this game that plays the super mario brothers song!!! You have to hold all the instruments differently so it's wicked hard, but I'm really good at it. I can also make arrange the tempo and stuff for other nintendo songs too!"

I am a musician, and I intend to purchase Wii Music. It should be a great way to improvise and find new ways to look upon old songs. Wow way to attack me and then agree with me all in one post.

I dunno i thought the point of the game was to be creative.

You know you could make your own songs on mario paint, or make songs that actually exist, AND manipulate them it different ways which effectively makes mario paint 1000 times larger than wii music. Like I said the main problem with this game is lack of composition.

By the way Oh mighty musician helios.
I played on mario paint for hours when I was young.
You say that people don't have the ability to make a song, well then i think you are full of it.
Classic Salieri to mozart impression. "what but he's a nobody, he's a terrible person, he's only 20+" and on and on.
All I did as one of the hundreds of thousands of kids was play a note then play a second note, and then a third and then layering, until I had a whole song that was MINE and nobody elses.
People can make music. It isn't that hard because it isn't in your skillfulness it is in your fucking soul, OK?

EDIT: It wouldn't have been so hard to include that in wii music for christs sake, it was one of like 8 minigames on mario paint. Yes the playing of instruments is nice, but WHY?? This is the perfect example of a game that is going to take the place of people actually playing instruments or doing any real compostion.

No, this game is pretty easy for a core gamer like me. Depends on if you've got good timing.
