Honestly I don't think it has anything to do with not being able to grasp the game. I honestly think that some core gamers simply do not care enough to do so.
They will get to a more difficult part and say, "Why am I trying to do this?" Motivation has a lot to do with overcoming difficulty and I really do not see the motivation besides being a perfectionist.
Now, getting the top score in the world in a game like superstardust looks like it is much more impressive feat for one. And secondly, seems much more available to the public. Someone can simply look up a score. someone can't look up a song score, especially in a game that doesn't use scores!!!!
Why they did not make this game like mario paint music editor i will never know. maybe in wii music pt 2...
