Forums - Gaming - MGS4 11/10 O.o

Well I'm sorry but this game doesn't deserve a 10. Some other games do, but not this one. Even the gameplay is not that good.

I bought it, played it for 10-12 hours, and after the ending of chapter 3 (wich is great), I was bored and stopped playing it.

Are you serious? MGS4 is the best game I have ever played (matter of oppinion ofcourse).

I could write out a full review on why everything in the game is near perfect, but why bother when everybody who has actually put the time into it should already know.

OP - All I can say is I wish those idiot reviewers at Eurogamer deserve a fucking slap for the review they gave it. This game deserves no lower than 9.5 from anywhere and should currently be rated higher than GTAIV.

I can't say anything about GOTY cause the year is not yet over. We've seen alot of great games that could compete with it for this title (LBP, Fallout, Farcry, GOW2, GTAIV). However, I still think it deserves game of the year, even if it does not win.

Precisely. All this fanboy bullshit will stop as soon as the game is announced for 360.

Strategyking92 - Some serius trolling dude. Take your insecurities elsewhere.

No, he's right.

Metal Gear Solid is basically a miniseries of interactive movies within the larger Metal Gear mythos. I love the games, but that doesn't change what they are.

You can't call something an interactive movie without providing evidence.

For starters, and in order for me to agree with you, I need three general ares of your claim defined. This needs to be done before we begin calling something that is clearly a video game something else.

- What is a video game?

- What is an interactive movie?

- How are the titles in the MGS series not video games?

Keep in mind that your answer should include facts, not opinnions.

I don't mean any insult to you. It is just that a lot of people throw the "fact" that the MGS series is an "interactive movie" around these days.

Sorry, I can't take that request seriously when it comes from a person who throws around the word "opinion" like it's going out of style.

Look, MGS3 is a prime example (though MGS2 is a better one). If you really lock down and play this game, you can beat it in, what, two hours? Maybe an hour and a half? That's actual gameplay, mind you. We'll say 90 minutes if you're really quick, though I'm betting many can beat it much faster.

The game has two hours of cutscenes. Two hours - maybe more. You can check that out in Subsistence if you balk at the idea, one of the special features in that version is watching all of the cutscenes as a movie.

When you throw in your radio conversations it ramps up considerably, to about five hours of non-interactivity. Maybe six? I'm not sure, I would never try to record it in its totality.

There is far more non-interactive content in these games than there is interactive content. I don't see how that can readily be argued by anyone.

So all these games are interactive movies?

Just a few for comparison from a variety of platforms:

No - because most of them don't have over an hour of cutscenes.

And never stop being fully interactive, in the case of the Bioware/Black Isle Studios games.

And some of them require sequence breaking (Metroid Prime).

This isn't a good argument on your part!

What does the ratio of game to cutscene have to do with total game time?  Yes I realize that some of those use glitches, but the point still remains that MGS doesn't become an interactive movie just because it has lots of cutscenes or because it can be beaten in a fairly short amount of time.

The entire hinge of my prior argument was that there's more movie to it than there is game.
