Forums - Sony - Gamespot E3 game of the show.

I'm one Sony fan that won't be getting this crap, i guess we can't say it will sell to all owners :P And none of my friends who have next gen systems care for this game either.

Yeah, this isn't going to help sales at all, I love it too, but this fits in with other reviewed bold darlings like: Okami, Loco Roco, Viva Pinita, it's too different for it's established userbase. Honestly I think it's a shame Nintendo missed out on this developer, because this would have sold better on the Wii.

You think LBp would be the same on the wii, one PS3 SPU is dedicated just for cloth simulation.

 I think it would lack HD and high polycounts and the rich textures, but for the most part everything there is doable in myopinion. Remember this is a sid scroller, You don't have a huge amount of models on the screen at once. the physics is great, but it's always a few things on the screen at once. No real draw distance or full scale cities to render in the background or anything. and I'm not convinced the physics requires amazing power, sure it would when lots of things are effected by it, but a few items? I've seen specatuclar things done with phisics on the N64, just play Rocket:Robot on wheels for the N64. Rocket btw was made by Sucker Punch another good developer Nintendo let get away. I'm shocked they didn't pick them up after seeing the potential in Rocket and knowing at the time they may let Rare go. They so could have used them for platform titles, like their own Sly Cooper games.

If they do it right the ps3 is in for a come back.

How do you figure?

If the game is such a great hit and is given huge reviews, people are willing to buy the game, if they dont have a ps3 they need to buy one, just for that game. Thats if it is great, but killzone can do that lts by itself.

Haven't people already figured out one ro two great games aren't going to save a system? True, it never hurts and definitely helps, but even if LBP is amazing, it's not going to sell a lot of consoles. I think even a few days ago there was a thread about the Gamecube and the amount of system seller games it had yet it still did worse than the XBox.

In order for the PS3 to make a come back, they need to do the following:

  • Release quality games-- right now pretty bad, but getting better.
  • Repair their public image-- probably the hardest thing to fix.
  • Price Drop-- They've done it once and it's still too expensive.
  • Add rumble-- hopefully they do this soon because people do in fact want this.
  • Actually respect their customers-- which the PSP Slim proves they don't.

Whoops, should've read the entire thread before posting, people already talked about the Gamecube/ XBox thing.  >_>

Is there an actual point to this game yet or is it just a bunch of running around?

And I don't think the cloth simulation is really the game's main selling point. :p

I've actually had about the same attitude for the game. It looks like it will be fun for a few days but it will get old quickly. Hopefully there are things beyond just creating shapes and physics simulations that just haven't been revealed yet to keep the players going.

-edit-
And I know i've said I'm not great at predicting sales, but I expect this game to sell about 750k to 900k.  This really isn't a known game, it looks like a kiddy game (which is exactly what a lot of people who bought the PS3 don't want), and is one of those crazy games that just don't attract a lot of people who haven't heard anything about it.

 And this only furthers my point that PS3 owners who critisize the Wii and Nintendo for its kiddy appeal won't touch this game.  Thanks PS3owner, you truly live up to your name once again.

Everyone keeps saying LBP shouldn't be compared to Viva Pinata. Yet they have a few things in common so far. When Viva Pinata was shown at its respective E3 critics hailed it as a great innovative game. They loved the quirky art design and most didn't really know the plot of the game. Also like Viva Pinata this game would be received even better if it was on the Wii.

Don't get me wrong, this game looks great and I would love to play it, but I can't see someone spending $500 and up for this game. I know a few parents who are fighting with their kids because they don't wanna spend $300 on a 360 and get them Viva Pinata. Just think Viva Pinata has a Saturday morning cartoon and a 2nd game coming out on the 360 this holiday season. If that can't move units I don't see how Little Big Planet will.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

You do know that the levels are all user created right? So you can make 'em just running around or a lot more complex than that. If this game is just running around then Mario is just jumping around :)

All I know is if this idea was Nintendo and they brought a game where players from all over the world create all the levels in very easy and fun ways and it featured co op creating and playing then this game would be welcomed as the second coming of christ but because it's Sony it gets all the skepticism.

If Nintendo had come out with this, then you and others here would be saying how kiddie and pointless it is.  How it is so not "hard-core" and just for "casuals".

Release quality games-- right now pretty bad, but getting better.

==> quality game ?
I see more quality game on PS3 or Xbox360 than in Wii,
Just go look the MGS4 demo video still exclusive to the PS3 or GT5 prologue trailer and u will understand why PS3 will sell well this Xmas and early 2008.

Repair their public image-- probably the hardest thing to fix.

==> no need,
PS3 lacked of game and price drop, both are coming.
Go say this to Microsoft, they really need to repair their public image.

Price Drop-- They've done it once and it's still too expensive.

==> I completely agree.
That is the main probleme.
500$ is still too expensive.
But Xbox360, 2 years old console, still no price drop ...

Add rumble-- hopefully they do this soon because people do in fact want this.

==> I dont think it is "must needed" parameter.
A paddle is a paddle with or without rumble.

Actually respect their customers-- which the PSP Slim proves they don't.

==> go say this to Microsoft again.

E3 2006 ==> E3 2008 : Sony big shit
E3 2007 ==> E3 2008 : Sony wake up : game are coming, price is droping

Time to Work !

LBP is going to kick ass. It's games like that whic will probably lead me to buy a PS3. And it's part of the reason Sony in the end will defeat Microsoft. They have real diversity in their franchises. Ratchet and Clank and Jak sold very well on the PS2, so people saying this game is going to bomb are just Sony hating trolls. It's really only the hardcore Microsoft fanbase that has atomate hate for platformers and think the genre needs to die.
