Sony seems to have developed a bipolar personality in regards as to what is or is not acceptable in games on their platform. This if nothing else denotes a reverse racism. They tolerate Grand Theft Auto 4 on their platform a game that screams an Anti-American sentiment. The portrayals are graphic and crude. There are a multitude of titles on their console that negatively portray groups and cultures. Yet it is only the Muslim community that gets treated with kid gloves.

I have to say I feel somewhat offended by this stance. I believe in the equality of reaming if my culture can be mocked then to me it is entirely permissible that other cultures can enjoy the same mocking. What can I say I believe in the fundamental right of any person to express their beliefs, or express themselves in any way they see fit.

I suppose the tragedy is actually that this entire situation is coming from an entirely racist point of view. Sony is basically saying that the Islamic community is childish, immature, and incapable of conducting itself in a civilized manner. They really think the group as a whole would behave like a mob of hate mongers if this were to be in their game. I certainly do not believe it, and honestly I think the community would probably not have a issue with it.

I think if Sony can treat everyone else as rational then they should treat the Muslim community in the same fashion. I just despise censorship especially if it is selectively applied.

Why destroy them? They could sell them warning they aren't pure and label new, purified copies as "halal"

I never thought I'd find myself agreeing with Kyros about something, and yet here I am.

There's a simple truth about tolerance; it does not mean that other people have to follow what you believe, or that they must somehow rearrange their lives to suit YOUR beliefs. All tolerance means is that they have to let you practice what you believe in without bothering you.

Expecting other people to follow the creed of your religion isn't tolerance, anyone. It sure as hell ain't what freedom of religion is about. If some people are offended at two short quotations appearing in the game that's unfortunate, and if Sony decides for commerical reasons to pull the game as a result, so be it. But those who are saying that the rest of us shouldn't have the right to do things that go against your beliefs...sorry pals, but it don't work that way.
