Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sega CD article on IGN

http://retro.ign.com/articles/920/920361p1.html

How do these people get jobs at IGN when they know so little about gaming?

While the article has some valid points about Segas downfall starting with the Sega CD, this quote shows how little this dude knows about games...

"Quick, name your favorite SEGA CD game. Chances are, you said Sonic CD -- which is the only SEGA CD title worth remembering and replaying. And maybe some of you said Lunar, which remains one of Working Design's greatest achievements. Otherwise, the SEGA CD hosted a plethora of garbage."

What about Snatcher?

Eternal Champions CD?

Final fight CD which was better than the Snes and Arcade due to awesome CD music

Robo Aleste (awesome sequel to M.U.S.H.A.)

Popful Mail was another AAA RPG

Slipheed was awesome

I'd really hate to see what he'd write about the 32X...

I had one and it was fantastic console to own. I was the envy of all my mates :D

I owned:

1) Sonic CD

2) Silpheed

3) Sherlock Holmes

4) Snatcher

5) Ground Zero texas (badass game)

6) Eternal Champions CD

7) Final Fight CD

8) Thunderblade

9) Some similar game to the above but it was about car racing

10) Night Trap (honies in bikni's running around the house :p)

I loved my Mega Cd.

I agree, this article was crap.

On top of the games you all listed above, I thought the Mortal Kombat (original) on the Sega CD was arcade perfect as well (you could even do the Johhny Cage decapitation/nut punch combo). Not to mention other Working Design games... Did anybody play Dark Wizard? Damn I loved that game.

Don't forget great strategy games like Third World War (complete with that awesome Hussien/Clinton cover on the Japanese release), Dark Wizard, and Shining Force cd
and better ports of cart games like SPiderman vs the kingpin (massively better) and Earth Worm Jim (a few extras)
and stuff like the space adventure and Secret of Monkey Island

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to write something really long but let's just assume I did and these are the cliff notes of my thoughts.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

The SegaCD/32X battle/debacle was comic in its tragedy, but to ignore the fruits of the Sega CD? That's just wrong. Popful Mail alone made it a worthwhile system.

Sega's software was terrific no doubt.

But its hardware is what eventually killed Sega.

More like changing their business model to selling hardware at a loss.

Well, it's still its hardware to blame :P

And problems other than that as well. A whole myriad of problems.
