If wii was HD? what if ps360 had motion controls?

also, it doesn't take 3 years to make a wii title. Capcom had a chance to make something for the wii that would rival resident evil 5 by now...and they are making a half assed port of dead rising. This was announced well after wii got the majority share. Im not saying that wii support wont pick up...but we are 2 years in here...and this christmas season there will be a huge drought of 3rd party wii software.

Not every developer wants to downgrade their games only to have to put motion controls to offer something unique. Especially not the elite developers by the looks of things...as no 3rd party developer has even bothered to put their best teams to make something Wii specific.

So while I fully aknowledge wii is the #1 selling console...untill the industry leading people start making games on it, it is not an industry leader.

Also, all this "innovation always wins" bullshit is just that... Sega innovated more than Nintendo and Sony combined in the 16, 32 bit and 128bit console generations...and look where they ended up. How about Virtual boy? 64DD? Those were innovative products...

Monster Hunter 3

Also Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is the deepest and arguably the best light gun shooter ever made.

The Wii is the industry leader.

Why do you post this crap?

Just to be sure, that was sarcasm, right? It isn't very obvious in text.

The console war is not over. Not by a long way. So the Wii is winning in sales. Does that mean that the other two consoles cease to exist? That they will now get 0 sales a week?

Just because there is a current winner, that does not mean:

1) It will always be the winner. There is a tiny chance that they will get sued for everything they own and go out of hardware. Very tiny. There is also a chance that Apple will make a console. There is also a chance that the world will explode the next time you say 'potato'.

more to the point,

2) THAT THERE IS NO COMPETITION LEFT. Firstly, the way you worded it was wrong. The console war is definitely not over, because there will be an 8th Gen. Believe it or not, soon people will be tired of the Wii. And PS3 and 360. Then we will have new consoles and Nintendo will not win again because who wants to pay an extra 200 bucks for 'high definition'? Certainly not the Wii's target audience.

At least 3/4 of Nintendo's loyal 20 million or so customers were probably revolted by the Wii and would not buy its successor, and for the reason i have stated, not many of the people who own Wiis will be queueing up to pay extra money for 'improved graphics' and 'hard drives'

I have no doubts that the battle is Nintendo's. But the war is FAR from over....

Anyway, secondly, the other two consoles are still giving the Wii some competition. And as many people have said, the war is between PS3 and X360 now because the Wii has done so well that it has its own 'hate club' of PS360 owners. Where was I? Oh yes, so we KNOW the Wii is doing well with its 'innovation' and 'fun'. No need to rub it in.

We PS2 owners weren't doing this to you last gen...

Were we?

well you dont Know till its over right?

But it is over.

The numbers don't lie. Microsoft and Sony arent selling enough to catch up or make as much profit.  Its done.

Unless were now counting the odds of a rare meteorite destroying every bit of Nintendo off the face of the earth.

you never know people might decide they dont care about the motion controls or whatever anymore and move to the 360 and PS3 i mean you cant judge the outcome of this gen in the first 2-3 years....

Words of Wisdom, both the 360 and PS3 have a large chance imo of atleast being on par or "Slightly" ahead of nintendo in terms of sales. although i could careless about sales i pick the console(s) were my fave  genre's/games are, and truth be told i grew outta mario awhile ago (2 years or so) so yeah not everyone thinks "OMG NINTENDO PWNS CAUSE IT SELLS THE MOST SO IT MUST HAVE THE BEST GAMES ON THE MARKET EVER" my ass it does.

Overall as they say "Its not over till the hot japanese chick sings" and guess what? shes still sing'n.

I know its your oppion, but I really want to know what makes you think this, despite theres a nice big fat stack of numbers on this site that says otherwise.

I mean after how many price cuts, bigger hyped/marketed games has the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 had, now still havent had a year of sales over Nintendo, yet suddenly going to change?

How is it suddenly the two consoles who struggle to break even half combined sales of the Wii on a regular basis, just suddenly shoot up to sell to pass it?  Not a little, I mean around ten million units.

Or the fact that the Wii still is selling based on software they'v released nearly during the first half of the year?  Even launch.

Its certanly not going to be third partys that are going to sell there systems,  the games will sell because the people that wanted the game already had the system.

Its certanly not going to be first party effort, considering they sell much less than third partys and even more less than Nintendo's first party offerings.

So with all that stacked up.  Yeah...  The hot japanese chick is still singing because you download a dodgy MP3.  She's finished, brushed her teeth and went to bed.

That they will now get 0 sales a week?- Oh course not the other two consoles will still be there, but the whole point of a winner is too be the most profitable and have the most market share.  Which Nintendo has.

Just because there is a current winner, that does not mean:

1) It will always be the winner. There is a tiny chance that they will get sued for everything they own and go out of hardware. Very tiny. There is also a chance that Apple will make a console. We are not talking about 8th Gen oh course.  Were talking about THIS gen.  Theres more of that random prediction also.

At least 3/4 of Nintendo's loyal 20 million or so customers were probably revolted by the Wii and would not buy its successor, and for the reason i have stated, not many of the people who own Wiis will be queueing up to pay extra money for 'improved graphics' and 'hard drives'   The subject is about this console war not Pyshic hotline.

Oh PS2 owners were a lot.  More.  Worst.  From the Dreamcast dieing all the way up to release of the PS3.  The internet was not enjoyable for Nintendo or Microsoft fans.  Irony it was actually PS2 fans and Sony that bought up this whole console sale arguments before hand.

Perhaps not you personally, but PS2 fans were far worse than wii fans have ever been.

The wii sold most by appealing to the mass market. This is true...

Kind of how a toyota corolla and honda civic sell more than BMW and Mercedes. Yet those 2 car manufacturers get much more press and praise by majority of car enthusiasts.

Also Wii has mostly been neglected by 3rd party publishers...so maybe its a bitter-sweet victory for nintendo...and wii gamers in general.

I mean...Resident Evil 5, GTA4, Final Fantasy 13...all missing the Wii. Those are some industry leaders right there...

 Disolitude,

All of those games were announced before the start of this gen and were well in to production when the Wii train really became apparant and we are still waiting for them except for GTA4. The dynamics over the next couple of years but the DS didn't have decent third party support until its 3rd year and it has taken a while for that to get a chance to mature. The Wii is also following a similiar path...except that it is happening faster this time around.

After those games are released what will hapen. Of course HD consoles will continue to see strong support this is partially thanks to the unique path Nintendo took. Trust me if the Wii was HD like the 360 or PS3 there support would dwindle to a lot less then what they will get.

If wii was HD? what if ps360 had motion controls?

Well It doesn't take 3 years to make a DS game either but it took at least that long for decent third party support to show up on the system without all hte cheap cash ins that applied.

You missed my point about the Wii being HD. I said because the Wii is in fact very different than the PS3/360 it allows for developers to continue making games for these system that are only for these systems. If the Wii was similiar in graphics power than you would have seen a much larger jump of third party software by now.

Similiar to the PSP/DS much more money was initially locked up in develeopment with the PSP games couldn't just be ported over. So they finish their projects and release them to hype and sell them then they started working on decent DS games.  At tye same time though the PSP has an install base capable of supporting a few big games with decent sales so it was far from abandoned.

Companies want to sell games. And until at least the end of the year the 360/PS3 market was bigger than the Wii but come the end of next year that dynamic will be different which means that if these companies want to sell the most games they will have to start putting their Alist teams on the Wii. All it will take is a few major third party releases that are successful. I don't think that is going to be a problem.

The PS3/360 are a billion times better than the Wii IMO, but the fight for first place does seem to be over at this point.

@Dinomax - Big embedded video.

I agree that at this point the Wii has already 'won' these system wars.

But personally speaking, I find it a "shallow" victory so far, given that it´s the first system I see that, despite being the leader, doesn´t get the majority of the 3rd party 'big hits'.

Peharps  a shallow victory for Wii only owners.  But the victory isn't meant to be for them.  It's meant to be for Nintendo.  And what a huge victory it has been and it is going to be.  Tons of profits from the hardware since right from launch it has been sold at a profit.  Tons of profits on software.  Week in week out Wii is the top publisher apart from weeks a very big game comes out that isn't made by Nintendo.  So Nintendo is making by far the most on hardware and by far the most on software.  By 3rd parties refusing to give the lead console the support it deserves they are leaving Nintendo to cannibalise Wii software sales.  And whether PS360 fanboys choose to admit it or not Wii owners do buy software.  And if Nintendo software is all that is available on their system then that is all they will buy.

The Biggest third partys are working on the Wii its just unlike Marvelous,Capcom, Sega there not putting in effort. Can you honestly say with a straight face they did as much work on the Wii as the 360 or PS3 version?

Of course not.

Thats not Nintendo's fault, especially when the Wii is the easiest and less finacially demanding system to work for. Theres a reason why Nintendo are absolutly dominating in sales because most third partys simply didn't step up to compete in development or advertisement, then suddenly act surprised when it doesnt sell as much.

I'm sorry, but when did this generation end?

When the numbers becames to high for the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3 to sell that many units to catch up to the Wii.

Even with a ten year plan. If that ever stays on track.

Oh dude you forgot that Microsoft will buy Nintendo soon ;)
