I guess that I'm in a different boat on this one because I've been gaming for a long time and the Wii's procession of sequels and remakes are the very thing that don't interest me.

Which is a moot point because PC is getting more and more popular in the living room. And it's not as if you can't use your PC on your HDTV, it's people's fault if they decide not to put their PCs near the HDTV.

Not to mention a monitor, keyboard, speakers, as well as something to put all that stuff in as well as the know how and hours to do it.  That's well over $500 for a system that will be out of date in a year and wont be able to run new games like the XBox 360 can.

I dont want to play PC games with a controller on the couch (just as a majority of other people), I like the monitor and keyboard for those games.  Thats not to mention different setups for PC and console games, I'd have to sacrifice actions and quality to play a PC game with a controller.

I feel similar, last gen i did own a gamecube but i had hardly any interest in gaming, if anything i've played a bit on my PC.
Wii did reinvent gaming for me, the motion sensing added more to gameplay and overall experience, also most of my friends that are not gamers, started to be interested and this also helped me get back to gaming like during N64 times.

I woudn't go as far as you did. I may fit in your description but I still find some of the 360 and ps3 games interesting.

The big success of Nintendo IMO is that they are still selling the systems to the parents.
Microsoft ans Sony are selling systems so the gamers can buy them for themselves. Yes, I bought my Wii for me, but I also bought it for my family, my wife and my 4 years old kid. So I am like a superhero gamer with a secret identity. During the day I play Wii Sports and SMG, and at night I sit in my studio to surf the web, read some forums and play some hardcore PC Games. So during the daytime I can have a blast from the past with my kid, wife, parents and friends. During the nightime, specially when there's fullmoon, I feel I need something more sexy and bloody. And I wouldn't mind play on a 360 or ps3. But I have my PC to fulfil that need. And it is not like I am a casual during the day and hardcore at night. I can be pretty harcore about Wii fit and Wii music, as you probably would. It's no a question about being hardcore or not. I am both, and even though I am thinking about a ps2 or 360 to play mostly during the night time, I am pretty satisfied now with my Wii-PC combo. So in terms of the kind of games and money, yeah, with the money for a 360 I can upgrade my PC to make an ultimate Harcore Gaming Plattform. And as you say, there's no law against PCs in the living room.

But... I can´t stop thinking about how would my living room look like with more than three gaming consoles... 'cause when the night comes...

I am right there with you. The Wii was the first console I ever bought, because it was new and exciting. Not just the same boring crap with updated graphics. I am not saying Nintendo has fully delivered on their promise with the Wii (compared to the other consoles, it has NO GAMES) but they got my money for trying to innovate and step outside the box.

I don't know if I would qualify as a PC gamers, I only play Counter-Strike and used to play another online game or two, but I'm glad a bought a Wii.

Silly Rol, the tiers are defined by Blue Ocean Strategy, not by me. Since the strategy only openly accounts for customers who are not dedicated, and since the tiers go up according to how distant they are from the market, 0 is the only number available to describe dedicated customers. Unless you want to be on tier -1 or something.

I was giving up gaming completely after playing constantly since PONG. Every game seemed like been there, done that with prettier graphics and the controllers, which I never liked, were getting more frustrating.

The Wii with simple intuitive control put the fun back and with Motion+ coming, I'm gaming more and having the kind of fun I had when I got my N64.

I can appreciate the hyper-realistic, hyper-violent offerings of the HD machines but I guess the world has given me enough bloodshed to last. I’ve had to go to document enough real urban murder scenes that I could never enjoy a game like GTA. But give me that little plastic steering wheel and turn on Mario Karts and that’s my idea of fun. Plus Wii Fit has helped me lose … well let’s just say a LOT of weight and noticeably improved my balance.

I know there are people who think the Wii is destroying gaming but I think it’s brought my kind of gaming back. Gaming for fun.

You seem really upset.  Maybe you should start a thread about TV, since nobody here in this thread about games has any idea where you're going with this.

Technically I don't own a Wii, it's my son's. But for the first time since I had a Colecovision I have a collection of console games. Not games my son owns which I occasionally play with him (which we also have) but games I bought for myself. I've stopped buying PC games altogether now since I find I'd much rather relax on the couch to play Lara Croft or RE4, stand and play Wii Sports or Boom Blox against my girlfriend or chill out with a beer or tea and play Endless Ocean one handed (we need more one handed games like that!).

For me the interactivity of the motion controls is more compelling than graphics. I also enjoy playing games like Dewy, Zack & Wiki, Boom Blox, Wii Sports, etc which offer an experience I have never had before.
