ohh... yea. hahah....
My Wii predictions:
July, Aug, Sept, Oct will average at around 1,035,000 each month.
Nov will be about 1,700,000.
Dec Will be About 3,200,000. (Look at the DS last year with 5,432,076 WW in Dec)
Calender year end total of 18,090,000.
Then Jan, Feb, March '08 average monthly sales of 1,125,000.
Fiscal year end total of 21,465,000.
PS - I may be off on my Nov numbers a little on the high side, but I will stick with it. They should probably be closer to 1.4-1.5 million.
Edit: I should also point out that I am going with the "stockpile" assumption here. So if that turns out to be completely garbage then these numbers will most certainly be off. If that is the case it will be more like 15,650,000 by the end of the year.
I don't think the Wii will reach 18-19 million at the end of the year.
But possibly 17 if the are stockpiling now...
Predictions for December 31st 2008:
Wii 38,000,000
DS 84,500,000
PS3 17,000,000
PSP 41,000,000
X360 23,000,000
@Anyone guessing below 16 million for the end of Calendar Year,
Doing an extremely conservative estimate of sales....
Warning In-Depth Numbers Breakdown imminent.....
Current mid-summer sales have been around 938k a month (avg'ing from the week ending March 6th until the week ending July 15th). All signs currently point to increased numbers due to major new releases in the coming days, so lets take the extremely conservative estimate and say that it will sell at the same rate for the start of July through the end of October.
This gives us end of October total sales of 12,802,000.
Now looking at last november the Wii sold +500k in Nov during a single week of sales, this is not very telling since it was launch week. So lets look at DS numbers which did about 2.24 Million last Nov amid a massive onlsaught from the console gaming market. The average monthly sales for Sept and Oct for the DS were 1,527,343 which means it had about a 50% increase in sales in November. Applying a similar growth rate to the Wii based on our already conservative 938k number we get 1,407,000, but lets shave 107k off that just to make sure we are extremely conservative! So our Nov number is 1.3 million despite the launch of SMG on Nov 20th.
This gives us end of November total sales of 14,102,000.
Now for december if we look back to last year we see that the Wii did 2,504,465 in Dec during its launch. To estimate anything less than 2.5 million is really out there I think, but lets go ULTRA conservative and call it 2 million this Dec.
This gives us end of December total sales of 16,102,000.
So lets shave off 102,000 units and just say "Well maybe we weren't quite conservative enough!" and so with that we get the absolute minimum! In my mind this represents the point at which you are not even considering the numbers anymore (if you guess less than this). This is the lower boundry of lower boundries! The Wii limbo pole goes down NO FURTHER!! Paper Mario will not fit under this bar! etc.....
Enjoy~
I doubt the Wii will break 12 mil because Nintendo can't even produce them fast enough.
"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

Good call, I am sure the Wii will only sell 491,000 units a month from now until the end of the year.

Better start shorting NTDOY then, seen as they'll miss the shipment forcast by 6 to 7 million units.

They've sold over 1 million consoles every month since launch. Just based on that, it'll have sold 15 million by the end of the year. They would have to suffer a constant 50% drop in sales during the holiday season, after successfully selling out at 1mil/mo during the summer. In other words, damn near impossible.

Last update: Week ending November 3, 2007
15 million is guaranteed (basically meaning Wii passing 360 this year is guaranteed), anything above that would be increased production. People can't honestly think that Nintendo is only going to ship 1 million WW in November and December.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
My predictions for the end of 2007 :
Wii : 16M
PS3 : 9M
xbox360 : 13.5M
I know, this is a 2$ pridiction ;))
