Oh please don't fuck this up, please dont fuck this up, please..... I still play through the original every year or so. It is a gandiose experience every time, now I learn about this:

First Deus Ex 3 Details Emerge in U.K. Mag

Third entry in the series confirmed to be a prequel, set in 2027.

By Kris Pigna, 10/05/2008

Deus Ex 3, the third entry in the influential FPS/RPG series, was confirmed to be in development by Eidos Montreal nearly a year ago -- and now the first solid details on the game have finally emerged. U.K. magazine PC Zone has a cover story on Deus Ex 3 for their 200th issue (which has reportedly just begun reaching subscribers), and CVG has relayed a number of interesting tidbits from the preview.

For starters, the game is indeed a prequel that takes place in 2027, as was theorized back in December of last year, which sets the game 25 years before the original Deus Ex. Players are put in control of Adam Jensen, a private security officer at a lab that manufactures the biochemical augmentations that have been integral to the series' gameplay. The game's plot takes off when black ops commandos break into the headquarters of Jensen's company, and apparently use one of Jensen's own security plans to slaughter a mass amount of people. "Then the conspiracy begins," says CVG.

The game's aesthetic is described as a cross between "the renaissance and cyberpunk," with a more stylized look than many games running on the Unreal Engine 3 tend to have. "Deus Ex 3's vision of the future sees holographic screens flicker atop ferries moving back and forth in front of the Shanghai skyline, now split into two layers with the rich on the top and the poor in perpetual twilight below," writes PC Zone in their story.

In terms of gameplay, the combat won't be influence by stats, and will instead rely on a player's pure shooter skills. Stats will still be in the game, though, as they influence "a vast array of fully upgradeable and customizable weapons." There will be at least 20 augmentations in the game, with one described as tentacles that shoot out of your back and cling to walls when you jump off a building (sounds almost symbiote-esque), and another that lets you punch through walls to grab enemies behind them. There will also be a cover system (who didn't see that one coming?), and an auto-heal system that's become all the rage in shooters like Halo, Gears of War, and Call of Duty 4.

Interestingly, it seems Eidos Montreal also went out of their way to assure fans they are aware of the less-than-positive reaction the second game in the series received, and are working diligently to avoid some of the same mistakes. They also said, though, that with Deus Ex 3 they want to please both fans of the series as well as newcomers who may have never played the earlier games (which may partly explain why they're making it a prequel).

Hopefully we'll be able to get more info (from more direct sources) on Deus Ex 3 soon. But even with what we've learned so far, it'll be interesting to see how hardcore fans react to the direction Eidos Montreal is heading in.

Im gonna be pretty happy if they just manage to get everything down just right so that it's as good as the original, hell I'll even take the original with new graphics new storyline and a few new weps/augmentations and won't complain one bit.

How does this game play and that, because i have never heard of it

They will never beat the first one. It's my 2nd favorite PC game.

I really don't know quite how to explain it. If an FPS, RPG, and God had a child, Deus Ex would be it, basically.

I pray almost daily for this game to turn out good. The second one was okay but the first one was godly, no less! Also, I want Thief 4, NAO!!

Have they announced Thief 4? Same developers and everything? Tief 2 was excellent and the the high point of the series imo. Deadly Shadows was alright, but meh, kinda like Invisible War.

Deadly Shadows was mostly just decent, but then I reached Shalebridge Cradle, and it became awesome.

As to the topic, we'll see how this turns out. The second one couldn't touch its predecessor, so hopefully Invisible War was more of a hiccup for the series than a sign of things to come.

So far its mostly rumors, but no one has been out to debunk them either, which is usually a good sign. The ending in Thief 3 (as you know) was very open and certainly paved the way for an intriguing sequel! There is talk that Eidos Montreal are sharing their engine again with the Thief team, like they did with Invisible War. I suspect that a new Thief title will be announced within 6 months or so and certainly by next E3, but I have no hope of seeing one finished and released until 2010 at the very earliest!

"In terms of gameplay, the combat won't be influence by stats, and will instead rely on a player's pure shooter skills."

This almost guarantees that i will not buy it.

"Stats will still be in the game, though, as they influence "a vast array of fully upgradeable and customizable weapons." Sigh, going little over the top compared to orginal Deus Ex

"Interestingly, it seems Eidos Montreal also went out of their way to assure fans they are aware of the less-than-positive reaction the second game in the series received, and are working diligently to avoid some of the same mistakes."

Yep, some of those mistakes.

"They also said, though, that with Deus Ex 3 they want to please both fans of the series as well as newcomers who may have never played the earlier games (which may partly explain why they're making it a prequel)."

So they make it to work like "Deus Ex 2".

Sigh.

And hopefully they won't blew Thief like they will do with this, if that text is to believed.

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

F1 vs FOTA, when too much power is in couple peoples hands.
