Forums - Sales - XBox 360 now outselling the PS3 in ALL regions

PS2 price cut and things are back to normal :P

Around the Network

Someone's been taking drugs surely!

OP - 360 has a spike due to a price cut MS had to take to keep a console with a years lead ahead of a console that launched badly and costs a lot more... don't get too excited 360 is only a step up from Xbox, nothing more compared to previous best selling consoles.

Wii roared past 360 as though it was standing still, hasn't even had to take one price drop since launch... and you think the 360's a threat to the Wii now because its just about managing to outsell PS3 WW on the crest of a massive price cut? LOL.

Pass the drugs though... they must be good.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I like it when someone quotes the obvious i.e. "The 360 is now outselling the PS3 in Japan, the USA and Others/Europe." then goes on to extrapolate one or two weeks worth of sales while ignoring the fact that sales of the system are spiking due to a price cut.

Wii will sell twice as much as 360 and PS3 combined, as it has done, more or less, since launch.

If Sony don't cut the price, it'll be a draw between the 360 and PS3 this Christmas worldwide I reckon and I base that prediction on no more than gut feel.

A draw... no way the 360 should out sell the PS3 by a ton this christmas

Is the TC serious or is this a joke thread?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

PS3 has blu ray and alot of added features the 360 can play moviesin hd via download and unconvert movies they both play hd games.

for a great gaming experience in hd the 360 is the obvious choice the wii caters to kids and family fun and my 43yold wife and wiifit.

of course one kid on this site got caught using porn on his wii and lost it.

at least ps3 has a web filter wii should at least there are parental controls to block internet access.

In the past games sold consoles right now it comes down to exclusives and affordability.

if all ps2 owners bought a ps3 it would be were the wii is they have not been able to keep all their userbase. wii has brought in a whole new market to gaming.

And nintendo has brought back thier loyal fan base. and MS has added to its installed based from the original xbox.
1. Ninty 2. 360 3. PS3 thats my predictions its been almost 2 years for the ps3 and they gained only 1 million on 360 while getting crushed by Wii.

Now the 360 price cuts could push ms lead back over 6 million.

Also the PS3 lost to many exclusives to ms but everyone knows that.

Two words , Price Cut.

Hmm, that's not the way I would describe the situation.

The 360 outsold the PS3 in Japan, the USA and Others/Europe this week, and congrats to MS for that. But we can't draw any long reaching conclusions from a week.

But I would hardly describe the 360 as flying off the shelves, and it certainly won't challenge the Wii for no 1

This Christmas we shall see Wii > PS360 without any price cuts

The Arcade is still such a terrible deal, no HDD takes away so many of an HD systems pluses (like being able to download anything substantial off of XBLA)...I could see getting an Arcade as a secondary system only. Not as a primary. I would just pony up the dough for the better model.

but is a better deal from PS2...

Nope. Both are systems with almost no online capabilities. The PS2 wins on basis of the best game library ever.

Thank you, Xen, I would have shot myself if no one told him that.

No offence but i would call a 214% increase flying off the shelves =)

Wow.

Anyone having delusions this grand must be in constant pain.

The 360 price cut in all three regions... Think that has anything to do with the sales spike?

Well, I'm going to respond to what has to be a joke post, seriously.

Japan: 360 price cut has let it be in front of PS3 for 3 weeks running now. It was able to do so also with the help of Infinite Undiscovery. Now, there are no games on the horizon until 11/20, and sales are dipping as a result. Systems don't sell without games. So it has fallen 50 percent one week, and 30 percent again this week, to squeeze by the PS3 with a modest 2k lead. As the price cut wears off more and more, it should fall back to the 5k range within 1-2 weeks, and will stay that way until the week ending 11/22, where it will be spiked with TLR and the bundle that comes with it. But then it will fall, again, after TLR falls off the charts within 3-4 weeks, and WKC comes out for the PS3 at the end of the year. PS3 will continue to outsell the 360 until the next JRPG exclusive to the system comes out.

America: 360 land. But the PS3 was walloping it in it's own country (relatively speaking, of course) for 2/3 of the year, but then the price cut happened, and now it's enjoying time above PS3. But even with the price cut, 360 sales are falling at a steady clip, Week over week, back to normal levels, which is parity with PS3, or PS3 with a slight lead, something that has happened for the better part of the year. It will stay this way for the time to come as both systems have anticipated games coming out and releasing in the same time frame: Fable 2, and LBP on 10/21; And Gears and Resistance 2 in November. Sales will remain largely the same, or in the favor of one of the consoles depending on the pending economic status, and a future price cut of PS3, or aggressive bundling of either system. It's really a toss up.

Others: PS3 land. 360 had a price cut and soared above PS3, but PS3 only went down by 1k this week. It hardly had an effect on PS3 sales, unlike the American cut, which dwindled PS3 sales. It should be between 1-3 weeks when PS3 is back above 360 in Others for good, at least until MS's next 360 price cut.

I should note that Sony is not in the most economic position to a price cut, but it shouldn't be ruled out. They haven't price cut since November of 2007 (80 Gig PS3 went from 600 to 500), so anything can happen. Especially in Japan, where one is most necessary, since software won't hit until December, it should be expected at TGS. In America and Europe, aggressive bundling of Holiday titles (LBP, Socom, and Resistance 2) should be expected, while a minor American price cut (no more than 50 bucks) should also be expected, given the current economic state.
