Forums - Sony - Your Suggestions and hopes for a *BETTER* PSP

Some of the features I'd like to see aren't even possible due to the way the system was designed in the first place. Solid-state media as the primary format, for example, is out since the system relies on UMDs. A screen less prone to ghosting would be nice, too. And sturdier construction so that dropping it onto a carpet isn't a potentially system-destroying act. I also dislike the entire "power/reset/key lock" being on one switch; it'd be better to have key lock and standby on totally different parts of the system (I can't count how many times I've booted up my system and accidentally put it into key lock mode).

@jedson328 - Software piracy is not as common as you think. How can you say that the Wii install base is big enough for piracy not to matter when the Wii has not even passed the PSP in WW install base???

Piracy has nothing to do with the PSP's problems. That's just an excuse IMO.

I agree that piracy is not as a big issue as some may think, but saying that it has nothing to do with the PSPs problems.... thats just silly ;)

I'm getting a PSP in 2 weeks, when the 3000 model is released (my first handheld since GB). Even thou i am a big nintendo fan, i really like the portable.

About revisions, well im fairly happy with what there adding to the 3000 (the screen for example).

Well and i hope PSP2 does not come out for a while since i want to enjoy my new purchase without thinking about getting a new one.

likely developments-

-HOME access, which the microphone can be used for (btw, i've heard about HOME access when sony first started hyping it, but nothing lately)
-2010/2011 - yet another revision for the PSP using newer cheaper thinner and quite more colorful OLED screens...........which cell phones are just now starting to use b/c of aformentioned advantages

Explain please...because almost every console I have owned in the last ten years has fallen to piracy. I will re-iterate that the Wii sits behind the PSP in install base and moves games like MK like there's nothing to it.

A majority of console owners (handheld and home) do not use piracy as a means of getting games... I stand by that word untill numbers are thrown at me.

1. Hard drive (flash or whatever)
2. Right analogue stick
3. Touch screen for multimedia functions (music player, pda etc.)

The hard drive might be likely as well, since sony has given PStore access to the PSP...

Oh I almost forgot about this one! So annoying! >_< You shouldn't have trouble shutting a system off...

I forgot about that as well. I can't count the number of times my battery got drained because my psp went into sleep mode instead of turning off.

IMO its more of a combiantion of the fact that piracy is so easy and the fact that the PSP is extermly apealing to PMP users. Ususally whoever chooses a PMP is older then your avarege portable gamer. So its logical that he/she can hack a system far easier then an 8 year old kid. The PSP needs absolutly no extra accesorie to be able to play pirated games, because many PSP bundles already come with a memory card. So no chip is required, no complex hacking procedure... so who the hell would say NO to free games? Even the DC needed some blank CDs and look how much software sales where affected afther piracy became a viable option for gamers...

Look for example at the DS. Its 2 main user group are either the 6-12 year old users or the 24+ year old ones... the younger ones arent hack specialists, while the older ones ususlly have enough money to buy a game for 20-40$ a couple of times/year. On the other hand the 14-24 year old agegroup ( PSP owners ) doesnt has all the time the possibility to shell out 40$ whenever a game is comming out ;)
