A UK price war is about to begin, spurred on by retail chain, Sainsburys, who have this afternoon confirmed to HEXUS.gaming that there will be substantial price cuts on both its Xbox 360 and Wii consoles.

Speaking to the its customer service helpline, Sainsbury's confirmed that as from Friday 03rd October, running up until October 12th, the Xbox 360 Arcade version will be available for just £99.97(previously £129.97), with the 60GB model offered at just £139.97 (reduced from £169.97).

The company has no current deals on the Elite model.

Futhermore, the Wii will be reduced for the same period from £179.97 to £149.97!

You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal anywhere else. We guess you'll have to hurry up whilst stocks last.

M$ is doing it WAY to early imo, you should save those cuts until the holiday's accually starts.

Those prices are ridiculous high. It was about time.

It's not MS that is doing the drop. The retail chain is doing it on its own to spur sales at its locations. They are making less off each unit, but just like some of the manafacturers of the systems, they are planning to make all of the money back (and then some) through game and accessory sales.

They should sell out of Wii's pretty fast doing this, but I wonder why no PS3 sale...
