The DSi has what the PSP and iPhone don't, a huge software library attractive to the masses.

That's a more correct term.

The DS has the best, and biggest portable software library that is attractive to the masses.  It constantly outsells the PSP on a weekly basis, and Apple has about 75 million or so iPhone 3Gs to sell to even be in the same territory.

I just don't see the point in this.  Raising the price is never extremely effective.

Yeah. I would like to know the source on that. I really want know if the SD is going to support SDHC? And how much memory did they put in it that stores apps?

Unfortunately that's from the "leak" story and somebody was math challenged. I wish Nintendo would come out with the specs.

Depends on the item.

There's a famous anecdote about a large automotive maker that was having a terrible time selling its products and no matter how low the price became, no one would buy the vehicles.  What did they do?  They jacked the price way up and rebranded.  Sales went way up.  Turns out people weren't buying because they viewed price as a measure of quality.

Notice how you said games that aren't out! :P

I'm still iffy on Dissidia.....I mean square has fucked up a fighter in the past.

I find some people's reactions to the new DS a little hypocritical, given how much the PSP and PS3 seem to get flamed for integrating features other than gaming.

Indeed. Of course people tend to hate things that they secretly desire. Just like back in the day, I hated the PS3 because I secretly wanted one really badly and that turned out well for me. :D

People hate the feeling that they are losing something.  Many would like to believe that the PSP "traded" a great gaming library for more media features though that is complete nonsense.  As the NDS already has an amazing software library, anything added functionality-wise is icing on the proverbial cake at this point.

For the same reason an xbox fan will tell you "atleast microsoft didn't force all this additional pap on us". The Lite will still be available, having a DSi makes things that much more convenient for people that doen't want to be carrying around too many devices.

I think I'll just wait until spring to replace my broken hinge DS with one of these. Or I could import one...

These ARE region-free, right?

Why is it losing GBA support!!!

Thats makes it a definete no buy for me.
