Forums - Sales - Tretton: PS3 Sales Better Than Expected, Sales May Be Affected by Shortages

lol

xbox fanboys are starting to spread thier chests, by 360 selling more units than ps3 for the last few weeks. only reason is a price cut boost.

theres no way 360 would have beaten ps3, these last few weeks without a pricecut, so ps3 is still in a strong position that it manages to sell consoles at the price it is.

when things settle i think both may be even, or ps3 slightly ahead.

Really STRANGE Announcement... They don't seems to PUSH the limit, just happy, WTF, very disapointing speech, no way a CEO should speak like this. Strange... strange...

PSN: franco-br
MGS4, GH, MW2, GT5p, WipeoutHD, etc..etc..

I guess sometimes it's a no win situation for Sony in PR. If they are modest then people say they aren't doing enough, and if they are assertive then people say Sony is arrogant lol.

@branko2166

I agree....for the first time the guy isn't being arrogant.

He usually says things like "PS3 is still dominating"

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

So Jack Trenton still expected to be in third place by now? They never had a slight bit of hope to pass up the Xbox 360? Thats sad.

Lol, Jack Tretton.

Doesn't he still owe several thousands of dollars back from last year when he promised 1200$ for every ps3 found in stores?

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Actually, I think Sony is being perfectly honest here. Those shortages can mean only one thing: they're gearing up for huge fall sales. And since energy prices are stabilizing, the PS3's price has only one place to go: down.

Expect a $299/299EUR PS3 to hit the streets in November. I'd also expect Nintendo to chop the price of the Wii to $199, to maintain some distance between it and its competitors.

Nintendo can barely keep up with demand now, why would they want to increase demand by lowering the price?
