Actually, I think Sony is being perfectly honest here. Those shortages can mean only one thing: they're gearing up for huge fall sales. And since energy prices are stabilizing, the PS3's price has only one place to go: down.
Expect a $299/299EUR PS3 to hit the streets in November. I'd also expect Nintendo to chop the price of the Wii to $199, to maintain some distance between it and its competitors.
