Forums - General - Nancy Pelosi needs to be fired.

Your blaming the Dems for this when 66% of the Repubs voted against it? Are you that much of a Republican shill?

This is the largest, most absurd red herring I've ever seen. Whoever blames this on that speech should be fired.

I think we should fire every member on congress. That is right, we all should vote for the non-incumbent. Lets clean house. This congress sucks bigtime.

I would say the only people that should be re-elected are the people who can prove they were trying to fight corruption, and tried to warn us about the financial crisis. Dem or Republican all need to go. Not sure about senate, but I can think of a few who need to go away.

And who might those people be? How about we fire the people who voted for them the last two elections. it's sad we are trying to blame the wrong people for mess that's been created a long time ago. There only thing we can blame : GREED

As American, we got greedy and selfish and we are paying for it.

Laughable.

Nothing compared to the thought of Sarah Palin becoming president, now that really is scary.

I agree that blaming either party for the current situation or why it happened in the first place is pretty self-defeating. Whether or not the public will blame someone is a completely different matter.

Bigjon actually has a pretty good idea, but I don't know if it would solve anything other than temporarily.

I don't think anybody was that thrilled about the bailout plan, both Republicans and Democrats. Republicans obviously disliked it a little bit more.

Whatever happens, people need to remember that everyone gets screwed when the economy is bad, both Democrats and Republicans.

We definitely have some rough economic waters ahead no matter how you spin it. Many people thought that the 500 point drop a week or so ago was as bad as it could get, but after the 700+ drop today, anything is fair game. We could be in for some major surprises in the next few days, weeks, and months.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Um. I think the main point this thread was pointing out the fact that she was being completly obsessive, before a very important vote. She wanted to make sure EVERYONE knew it was not her fault, that it was GWB. She can even control her own party, was it like 90 of her own party voted against it? She is a terrible leader.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I have long thought that we should mount a movement from the public, to force all current congressmen/women and senators to step down at least for a cycle or two of votes.

This will remove all incumbents and will still allow the good ones a chance at getting back in if the people so choose.

However, unless all members of Congress, their staff, and any one else with connections to or between currently elected officials are removed, we won't get far.

The lobbyists can be kept at bay for a short while, since they would have little to no connections with the new members, and we could have real reform.

However this is only a pipe dream at this time. Maybe someone(s) influential outside of elected office can mount this effort and get people to support it. I am thinking Gingrich (note, from my view a great choice, but not too many others will agree with me) and a prominent reform democrat maybe Zell Miller.

Opinions on this? Be kind.

FYI - From what I've heard the majority of Pelosi's so-called "leadership team" voted against the bill as well.

Make of that what you will =p

The only thing I can think is she didn't want it to pass, and the best way to make that happen is to do this. That, or she really is that stupid.

As for being a Republican Shill? I am not a republican, and I am not blaming Nancy, I am thanking her. I love the fact that the bill did not pass. I am just saying that if you did want it to pass, this woman should be lynched.
