Probably this will be the DS2 and the will announce its release date.... its stupid anywayz...i mean, the DSLite is still selling like crazy...why another DS?

I call bull. People have been spreading rumors about a DS redesign for ages

This newspaper scan says nothing about a "larger screen" or exchanging data with Wii and SD cards.
The article does talk about a built-in digital camera (which is expected to be used in some games), music playback, improved wireless connection, release in Japan this year, and a price of 20,000 yen or less.

The article also mentions that PDA functionality will be added.

I'd like to see them work out a plan with Sprint or someone like that to have wireless cards in there, so you don't have to find "hot-spots" to chat and game.

I know the source is reputable, so this is likely trustworthy, but something tells me to hold off until Thursday before accepting it. It's not only odd that this info. slipped through Nintendo's vicious counter-intelligence agents (they train NSA recruits, you know), many of the things about it are just odd to me.

But who knows? Nintendo doing strange things out of the blue is becoming so commonplace nowadays that I've gone from nonplussed to "sure, why not?" Hopefully, whatever it is we get on Thursday is something good.

The DS is the No.1 on the maket, it is selling like hotcakes, more than 100,000 world wide...

Why kill these awesome sales by announcing a new redsign??

This looks very real to me for two reasons:

1. This is being reported by the Nikkei newspaper, a very well respected financial news organization.
2. The article says this is going to happen; it does not use "it is rumored that ..." or "we expect ..." or similar phrases.

We should also keep in mind the timing of this report. As someone up-thread has already said, there is a major Nintendo press event coming up later this week.

If I were a betting man, I'd put a lot of money on this happening exactly as the article says.
