I know the source is reputable, so this is likely trustworthy, but something tells me to hold off until Thursday before accepting it. It's not only odd that this info. slipped through Nintendo's vicious counter-intelligence agents (they train NSA recruits, you know), many of the things about it are just odd to me.
But who knows? Nintendo doing strange things out of the blue is becoming so commonplace nowadays that I've gone from nonplussed to "sure, why not?" Hopefully, whatever it is we get on Thursday is something good.
