There can only be a finite # of people interested in mario, etc...it will die eventually

Before I start thinking about where to respond to that silliness, you're joking, right?

It's just a simple statement of truth. There are only so many people who want wii's and can afford to buy one  (some people need to eat first). As wii sales get closer to this limiting factor, it will drop off. Simple as that. Of course wii repurchases andbreakages will cause a bit of fluctuation as well.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

So you mean a saturation point?

Yes, all consoles have a saturation point.

However, the Wii's saturation number is far higher than the PS3 and 360s, I think you'll agree, since the casual market is far larger than the hardcore market. Or do you disagree?

Also, you said that only so many people are interested in Mario. Mario doesn't sell the Wii. Casual games of all sorts do. Wii Sports, Carnival Games, Wii Fit, ect. Mario sells to the bridge and core market, and some of the strictly casuals, but without another Mario game, at this point, the Wii would still easily dominate the HD consoles.

That's where I have my problem. I don't think you believe anything I just said. I think you believe that Mario Nintendo fanboys are buying the Wii, and one day they will all buy it, and it won't sell as well from that point on. Do you see how silly that is, even if you don't believe it?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Yes, it's true that Wii sales cannot be infinite. The problem is it seems like you're implying the potential is smaller than other consoles (PS, for example). There are only so many people that want/wanted a PS2 as well, but you don't see anybody pointing that out. Same goes for the DS: 80+ million, on track to (at the very least) pass the PS2 - these aren't all Mario fans.

i'm really interested to see the effect of wii sports resort, to be completely honest.. i don't think it'll be "losing steam" any time soon based on just that

Around the 50 million sold mark.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

It will have sold it's 50 millionth by April.... so I guess after that you expect sales to slow down.... personally at the least I expect Christmas 2009 to be bigger that this year... as is usually the case with consoles (3rd year greatest sales)

So Spring 2009 seems a little early, but not improbable, however you should remember PS2s greatest year is now 5 years in the past, and it is still going strong.

@ paul_warren. Double your prediction and we'll talk.

DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.

ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

When Wii Music is released. It will turn people away from it.
