Forums - Sales - This gen console war is over

Where did I state I hated the Wii I used facts. Wii sells most to casual market and that explains it selling to every man and his dog. I never said anything bad about the Wii in that post. More people who buy a console means obviously more sales.

Winning console in terms of sales = Wii.
Winning console in terms of best graphics = PS3
Winning console for best  online play = Wii and PS3 because it is $0 charge.
Winning console in terms of controller = Wii for motion control.
Winning console in regards to most reliable hardware = PS3 with 99.98% reliability. Wii close with 98.5% reliability

Source?

I have heard just as many stories of Wiis being sent back on this site as I have for PS3s, admitedly that is anecdotal, but this site is quite large.

Sony site: PS3 only 0.02% hardware failure rates. Wii between 1 to 2% hardware failure rates.

I don't know why you're all laughing at the OP. Microsoft basically said the same thing at E3. Right now, the 360 is in a bad position in Europe but it's strong in America. In Japan, both consoles are pretty much meaningless.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Lets face it the Wii has wiped the floor with the two "giants" this gen

360 - Relied on old DVD tech and the RROD problem.

PS3 - Blu-Ray Trojan horse a new technology the world just isnt ready for and The Cell processor the poorest choice for games programmers bar none.
I mean what were they smoking ?

There's the problem =P they always claim there's very little failure rates cause they just ignore you.  Anyway if you want more anecdotal evidence over the summer I've seen 1 broken Wii compared to the 7 broken PS3s that were brought into the store I work at, even the PS3 that is our display system you play is broken, it broke again last week when we tried to put TFU in there to demo it to customers which is now the 4th time the system broke and the Sony PR guy in our area doesn't offer any help.

It all depends on which region ultimately shifts more units - North America or Europe. I really think 360 is going to own the PS3 pretty hard this holiday. The price has dropped through the floor, they've got more Halo 3 coming, they are going to push GTA IV stuff, they already are pimping Rock Band 2, they've got the New Xbox Live Experience coming through with a whole campaign of "Give Us Another Look". The economy is in the toilet and it's way cheaper than PS3.

Unless Little Big Planet is completely revolutionary on a Wii-type level in terms of expanding the audience, PS3 is in short term trouble over the holidays in America.

Now flip all those arguments around, except for price, which has less of an impact abroad as the economy is better (though not great) there, and you have the reasons why PS3 will kick butt in Europe.

Japan's pointless, as the market is smaller and neither console is catching fire there.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

If I'm not mistaken a PC of equal power & tech as a console will run a game worse than the console. Something to do with being a jack of all trades as my (limited) knowledge recalls

After looking at your profile I'm afraid i will have to take what you say about Sony and its products with a pinch of salt

lawls the only part wrong with your statement.  It should be the eceonomic growth is in the toilet, if the economy was in the tiolet we'd be living in little huts, no power, and no internetz to post how our economy is in the toilet =P best example a moving car slows down may even go in reverse but eventually it goes forward again, and never goes back to where it started.  If you made a drawing of how the economy grows it's a long wavy line going up and down but the growth is always larger then our fall, in 2001 a recession started people thought it was horrible when it was one of the shotest and insignificant recessions we've ever had, our recession now is actually something to worry about and fix but it's still not our worst.  (Thank you Mr. Maxwell for the lesson today on economy) *takes a bow*
