Forums - Sales - Opening week: Can WKS beat out Microsoft's big 3 JRPGs of 08 (Japan) ?

I think it is very much possible for this game to be a big hit in Japan. If the game turns out AAA it will most definitely crush the sales of the competing system's RPGs. I think it actually might out do MGS4 and TOV sales in Japan.

If this game turns huge, expect a lot more marketing hype from sony for it's american port.

MGS4 and TOV combined? That's quite a stretch.

I'll also throw this out there: A lot of gamers probably got a PS3 for rpgs, but due to the recent upsurge in 360 sales coupled with high profile rpg releases (read: ToV and IU), it is actually quite likely that the rpg audience makes up a larger percetange of the 360 install base than the PS3 install base.

PSN: chenguo4
Current playing: No More Heroes

No.

Not that this means it'll do badly, but note that this game isn't even on the Famitsu top 15 most wanted games. To be honest, I'll be surprised even if it does 100k it's first week, at this point. Things will be easier to tell when we get closer to release, though.

That means squat.

OT: I wouldn't be surprised if it pulled it off.

As in go buy us some coffee.

I forgot who pointed it out to me, twesterm, I think, but he said that this list reperesnts only a very small and hardcore gamer community. So you can't decide by it.

If WKS sold under 100k in it's first week, I'd pretty much conclude that it's done badly. Eight PS3 titles have already went passed 100k in their first week, but they were all bundled. WKS is also the first non-strategy JRPG since the Enchanted Arms port.

Okami was very high on that list but that bombed big time.  Also, Blue Dragon was also just short of getting the top spot before it came out.  The only reason WKC is not on that list is because of the little to no info until today for the past year.  It will bounce right back, especially after TGS.

Its possibly, near likely IMO

lets just play the wait game

What is the big buying season in Japan? Is it December - January?

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

I like how everyone whines about me mentioning the list, when I clearly stated right before it that "not that this means that it'll do badly."

Reading comprehension might do some folks here good :p
