I'm gonna go with 500k LTD in Japan. This will probably be Level 5's best game yet, and I'm sure Level 5 has gained quite a bit of notoriety in the region because of Dragon Quest and Prof. Layton.

Since this is Sony's first big JRPG, it'll probably be marketed heavily as well. Actually, I expect Sony to heavily market all of Level 5's titles this gen, as their importance to the company has increased immensely over last gen. They are now Sony's main source of JRPGs, because the defacto third party exclusives of last gen are now almost non-existent.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Kaz should go to Hino and just write a blank check and tell him to fill up the numbers, they need to have a good quality 1st Party JRPG developer, Level 5 would fill that role nicely and they have street cred.

I think it will happen eventually, much like they bought Zipper and Guerrilla when they were itching for shooters.

Of course, I've also heard Level 5 wants to retain as much independence as possible, ala Insomniac.

Ironically Zipper and Guerrila will only release a game in '09. To be fair Zipper probably had to work on a lot of PSN infrastructure and GG on EDGE tools, but it's funny when you think about it.

When did you become a mod?

Eh, like 3-4 weeks ago.

Late congrats.

Thanks man.  :)

@Shadowblind, your sig has to be updated for what IU did last week...

To the subject: Counting an actual userbase is flawed when we talk about final sales, if one wonders about 1st, 2nd and even 4th week of sales, that can be taken into equation, but for overall sales the future userbase has to be taken into consideration...

So based on that, i think it will sell more than a million worldwide, and if the PS3 userbase grows, i don't see why this RPG can get close to that, equal that or pass that... We'll just have to see how good is the game, how much marketing it's gonna get and if the PS3 gains momentum at some point...

@Shadowblind
I think you are missing the fact that if this game turns out to be AAA that it may very well expand the PS3 audience. I mean really, what genre do the Japanese like more then RPGs? And what system did they expect them to be on? PS3 of course. I suspect that some JP were waiting for a true nxt gen RPG to come to the system before buying one. This just might be what the PS3 needs to gain some more momentum over there. Look at what Tales did for the 360? I believe WKC can do that and then some for the PS3.

600k-700k sales. In the end I think the game can hit 2million lifetime if it is indeed AAA as we all suspect it to be.

Fool! Tales >>>>>>>>>>>>>> FF! All Tales haters (or rather...you like Tales but you don't prefer it over FF so...all people who think Tales shouldn't be put in the same league as FF in awesomeness?) will fall before me!

@Xeta

Yeah...but I'm talking about series. Chrono has...2 games but one isn't even considered a good sequel :P It really isn't a series like the rest.

Tales will always be a second tier RPG series.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Let's face it.  Tales may be good but FF games tend to have better stories, better soundtracks, and more polish than Tales

Under 500k LTD. I'd go as far as saying that 300k would be good for it. Disagaea and Valkyria Chronicles haven't done too hot, and WKS is a new IP.

I hope I live long enough for the general public to figure out that SRPG's and JRPG sales are entirely unrelated......that will be a fantastic day.

...

500-600k in Japan, in America it will get 200K. World wide it will reach 1 to 1.5 mil.
