The second thing is, that it's not clear to me (or us/everyone) in what situation it was said. Was it "ah yea and this is the emotion engine, it can deliver Toy Story 2 graphics .." or rather "reporter: Will there be something as beautiful as Toy Story 2 on the PS2? Sony-worker: yes, there will be Toy Story 2 on the PS2 -> reporter making article: Toy Story 2-like graphics on PS2 confirmed!" ?

People that hate company XYZ will always say "company XYZ said this, this and this" to bring them down and completely disregard who said it and in what situation. The whole Ubisoft boycott afair showed us just some month ago.

In regards to consoles: Atari VCS (Video Computer System) / Atari 2600 = same thing.  Famicom (Family Computer) / NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) = same thing.  Who cares.  Sega Saturn (Is this console the second largest planet in out solar system???)  Dreamcast (Is this console casting dreams or is it running games in reality???)  Who cares.

120Hz refresh rate in newer HDTV.  Sometimes it's called "True Flow" or "Motion Flow."  Who cares.

Sharp uses uses "Aquos" in their LCD TV's.  So what?  All LCD TV's are "liquid."

Wega, Vista, Regza, Bravia, Bluetooth, Rainer, etc.  You're finding such small reasons for big "justifications."

Look, because of their previous hype fiascos, one should not become anti sony at all...however one should wait to see the product on the market before they buy. This is the best strategy for any console/game people...not jsut sony. The only difference here on why Sony is being specified is that nintendo and microsoft have not used the hype/lies as much hence less people are buying their systems as an impulse buy and then are left scratching their heads.

Whereas Microsoft never promised a failure rate of under 15% with 360 consoles, so MS is all good because they never "promised" anything.

Plus, there are a lot of people in a company so the fact that different people have said different things on different topics doesn't mean that you can extrapolate it to, say, mean that KZ2 "won't deliver."  Why don't you and I agree to wait and see how that one goes, for instance?  Deal?

Now if you are a fanboy and want to portray Moore's comments as positively as possible, I could easily see someone offering reasoning like yours.

I love all of the examples that have been dished out so far on how horrible Sony is. The funny thing is, many of the people on these boards make claim that they care about games. Yet no one has made one claim about Sony overselling that aspect of any of their systems. Every true fact that people have stated was Sony doing more than gaming with the system.

As far as pure games go, Sony has never show sothing that their console is incapable of. People like to think that Sony made claims back when the PS2 came out, but they are all based off great stories of fiction that the internet has made up. If you want the truth of what Sony thought the PS2 was capable of, then look for the original tech demos for PS2. Just like at E305 were Sony showed the alfred molina video, and the Getaway demo, and the Killzone 2 trailer. They also did the same thing for PS2 @ I believe E399. Every thing that Sony claimed the PS2 could do in those erly demos has been passed, and looks like crap vs any first party Sony stuff from late PS2.

Now with the PS3 it is the same thing all over again. Sony showed those tech demos, and everyone expected it day one. It is not Sony's fault that people don't understand potential, and thinking ahead. Hell Peter Moore should remember that his own division also made a target Madden trailer. Has it been reached yet? No. Will it be reached this gen? Of course, and it will be a joke compared to Madden 2011, and beyond. The same goes for the demos SOny showed back at E305. By the time we start seeing software as mature as Killzone 1, God of War, Shadow of the Colosis, Jak 3, Gran Turismo 4, and any other 04 - 06 from the PS2 on the PS3, the games will have passed those tech demos.

Now I am not saying that people will admit to it. I mean even after games like God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, FFvsXIII, and many many other games put Sony's original targets to shame there will stil be a group out there that claims Sony fed everyone BS and PS3 never lived up to what they claimed. I just hope at some point people learn about potential, looking to the future, and seeing beyond the very second they are currently living in. To sum it all up, Short sightedness is evil, and i'll leave it at that.

I'm pretty sure he made some valid (correct) points about what Sony has said in the past, but everyone jumps down his throat because he said it about Sony.

I don't blame Sony though, every company does have idiots that say/promise something that can't be delivered and then it gets dragged up by every fanboy every single time there's an argument going on. Look at Nintendo of America or Nintendo of Europe, and then look at Cliffy B at Microsoft. Every Company has their over-hyping, raging idiot.

Also, loving the new battle plan sony fans "let's flood every thread 'trashing' sony by discrediting the person who said it through numerous posts stating how little credibility the person has without a single proper reason why he is not credible". Nice.

1. Yes, he may be factually correct about what they said, but the problem lies in extrapolating it to discredit upcoming projects Sony is working on.  People here are using it to introduce FUD.  It's bullshit.  

2.  True, and this is part of the reason that the extrapolation I mentioned in #1 is bullshit.

3.  Bullshit.  Replace "Sony" with "MS" OR "Nintendo" and get rid of the word "new", and your sentence would be just as true.  Which means it has no specific anti-Sony force at all.
