Forums - Gaming - Microsoft: We'll always take on Sony's first-party titles

Gears is first party?  In that case most of Level 5's games, Heavenly Sword, etc. are all part of Sony's first party, despite the developers being by no means exclusive to Sony...

If you start including games merely published by each company, then the gap between the two only increases.  Sony publishes more games for it's home consoles year for year than even Nintendo.

Look at my top five most wanted. I would love to see MS battle back hard, but I can't see them making anything soon that will directly take on LBP and GOW3.

Good point -  Sony's announced games for the next 24 months is better then MS's announced games for the next 3 months...

sonys announced games for the next 3 monts are also better than microsofts announced games .. for the next 3 months ;)

Check out my game about moles ^

no matter how you spin its bad PR.

you can sense their fear in the words.

sony still show some exclusive games that announced in 2005 & still not released ?

Its just PR talk, but heck after microsoft said " we will take down the playstation brand" in e3, it got me thinking. Why are they doing this?

There were over 40-50 MGS staff that worked with Epics team to make Gears, and this number has increased for Gears 2. Every game that Phil Spencer quoted has a big team from MGS working on it. Thats why he talks about them in his interview. Its not merely a publishing deal. If you actually own these games, you can see it clearly when the credits roll and its all in the manuals.

Thats why its so funny everytime you all say its all about publishing and money, when all this while, MGS developers and staff has worked (and probably poached) with/from Epic, Bungie, Lionhead, Rare, Bioware to create some of the best games this gen.

Its not first party per se, but its definitely at minimum 2nd party partnerships and suffice to say, these huge games would not be what they are today without MGS.

These battles for 2nd place scraps are funny.
Who will lose more money?
Looks like children fighting for scraps, they don't care if their garments are tore to shreds.

And the fear is easy to feel in this interview. We can clearly see that MS doesn't care one bit about their customers, they only care about taking Sony down. Which doesn't make sense for a normal business, but then again it's MS, so it's not surprising.

I shake my head in disbelief but it's entertaining.

Resistance 2,fable 2, and gears 2 are games im buying q4. Insomniac is like Sonys Bungie almost.

Microsoft has the FPS and WRPG genres unto themselves this generation so far.

Halo 3 + Gears of War 1/2 will crack 20 million sales combined when they stop selling. Thats a massive statement of dominance in this genre.

In the WRPG genre, they have the only AAA exclusive title this year.

Tease.
