They haven't made their money back on the PS3 with their current pricing. What makes you think that a $200 price cut and the subsequent losses will be made up by software sales? The 360 has massive software sales. Yet MS has had trouble netting a profit and MS makes a per unit profit off of each 360 sold.

 +1 couldn't have said it better myself. Sony will have far more losses if they drop the PS3 down. The hardware and production costs will not allow it even after they already cut them down by half to stay in the game. You're asking for too much.

Unlikely because the people waiting for the $200 price point aren't the ones buying huge quantities of games. They will buy used and discount games.

 ...They would have to have stellar sales. I still have yet to see that. Hope for a good 4th quarter.
