I weight 260 pounds and let me assure you I can jump 22 inches... I really want to know how much this thing will handle...

It most likely isn't sensitive enough, but what about racing pedals? You already have the remote for the weel.

I am going to guess that the plate has 3 or 4 analog sensors that measure pressure and than coordinate a center. So I am going to guess no . Of course this is only speculation.

i just watched the 30 minutes i missed... wow, i like the wii board a lot more now!

the Wii is an epidemic.

I seem less enthused than the rest about this (which is odd, because I flipped for the Wiimote when I first learned of it).

Wiimotes are packaged-in - I'm afraid that a peripheral, even something this innovative, won't get support.

And I've seen very large men and women abuse both the arcade and console versions of DDR - it shouldn't be too hard to make a similarly sturdy WiiBoard.

Honestly, I feel the Wii-Board will have more success than the traditional peripherals, simply due to the sheer support from Nintendo behind this.

Personally I can't think of to many E3's where a peripheral is showcased so heavily. The WiiBoard is odd, and is something that Nintendo will have to help promote and explain the general public. I feel with all the buzz around Wii already, we will see this thing make the papers and morning TV talk show rounds and the general public will be interested in it.

I know RockBand was suppose to steal the show, but I think we will see more of the WiiBoard in the general news and media than we ever of RockBand.

I think it has tons of great gaming possibilities beyond the initial use, but I think the use of it in those ways is directly correlated to how well WiiFit Sells, and I think it will sell like hotcakes.

I think the WiiBoard is awesome, and will have as much of an impact on the industry as the Wiimote did.

I was expecting something that maybe could measure your heart rate or pulse - but never something like this. I think Nintendo has done it again - completely out of left field.

...

Like the Wiimote, this will allow Nintendo to promote the game/console, by showcasing people USING the controller - rather than showcasing the game itself.

And I also put this far above the EyeToy / Kinetic series of games. Its more accurate, gathers more data, and looks like more fun.

...

Imagine if Nintendo were to launch this with WiiFit AND a Wii version of 1080... :)

EDIT: also made me think of the MS Surface. Imagine using something like that thing to detect pressure changes and movement...

Yeah, but I still have a hard time believing it.  I mean, how many games use the Guitar controllers?  Even Rock Band came out with it's own set of instruments instead of using the GH guitar.  (right?)  I just don't see anyone but Nintendo making games for this.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

it is a must buy for me as soon as i saw it. Not for the WiiFit exercise but for the possibility of gameplay that comes from it. I am sure that's got some devs to go wild on ideas to use the board.

Surfing anyone?

Oh, the possibilities:

SSX Blur - shift your weight to slalom

FPS - shift your weight to strafe, shift your weight to lean

Tony Hawk - enough said!

I have no doubt the product designers over at Nintendo have thought about the possibility that users on the heavy side (cebrian, how is it that you play footy with such weight?) would be jumping on the board like mad, and have incorporated this consideration into the design.

What next? Platformers where you actually jump? Mario Kart with pedals?

It's still too early to know what exactly the board is capable of, but one can still dream...

I do hope that it is used in more than Fitness applications, though.
