Even though I enjoyed the show, I was bummed that there was no showing of Animal Crossing, nothing from the supposed revival IP , I swore we'd get Reggie saying something about how we didn't forget the hardcore gamer and show us an awesome video of Kid Icurus game. I'm also stunned we have yet to hear something about a sequel to Nintendogs, I mean it's only the biggest game ever. And I'm also bummed Smash Bros. was not mentioned as being online. I'm also annoyed they didn't mention another 3rd party character for Smash Bros. Sonic you there?
But I think WiiFit will be huge everything else looked great, I'm finding there is a huge focus on current year products, I believe this is a business descision, whats the point of getting the media pumped about whats coming next year when you really want them talking about what's hitting the shelves soon?
So I think we'll hear more stuff when the media has closed door showings of other newer stuff.

I believe so yes. We always could with Friend Codes though. |
Thanks, also DKII... that's amazing! Total MUST BUY! Yes I've heard about the friend codes being available world wide, but could also happen, like with Mario Strikers you will have problems with lag. Only so far no one can test it as the US / JP versions are not out.

You're right, and they'd be smart to spend some time on that too, to get the general press's atention. Despite the fact that we probably already know (or otherwise can predict) everything major there is to know about say Home. If displaying Home captures the NBCs and CBSs, as well as the big papers (I don't know, the NYTimes, and all), that's big, and that's what they should bet on.
New, unpolished, and/or very hardcore trailers are much better left for special events and stuff, like the Killzone thing. That was a pretty good PR "stunt". As is demoing games, having direct access to developers, etc, etc...

Well thats fine, after all there was Wii fit (one game) and then there was
RE:UC
MOH 32 multiplayer online
Online Mario Kart WII
Fully Online Gutar Hero 3
Online Fifa
Online Madden
Galaxy
Smashbros
Metroid
Dragon Quest Swords
Braintraining 2
Soul Calibur Legends
Golden Sun 3 DS (this was revealed after the conference however)
And release dates.
Now I may be blind, but I see 2 casual games tossed into a sea of traditional games on that list of what they had at the conference.
The problem is you guys saw Wiifit, and abrubtly and immediately forgot about the other games shown. 90% of the games shown were traditional games with a heavy focus on online functions. But the 2 casual games seems to be all you guys are talking about. Its hard to take you seriously when you do that.

I think Nintendo's presentation was a step up from MS's (though I admit being a bit biased in N's favor, even if I am a Wii60 guy). Wasn't as defensive - MS tried hard to sell how successful the 360 is; obviously Nintendo doesn't have to do that. Also give 'em props for directly addressing criticisms, which again belies more faith in their product (no way could MS address the failure rate in it's presentation).
I think they did a good job of selling their overall lineup and strategy. Mario Kart online is huge, and the 3 new controllers (at cheap prices) is good. Can't wait to get the new zapper. The final dates for the Trinity was an absolute must.
That said, it could have been more. Not a great deal of breadth revealed when it comes to 3P support (showroom floor, maybe? I understand N has to hock its own), and MK was really the only unknown title shown. WiiFit... well, my wife seemed interested. I'm just curious what else the board can be used for. Everyone knows what Nintendo has this year. I think they needed to reassure that there would be even more coming in 2008; more names needed to be dropped.
In short, I think they did what they had to do, but didn't go the extra mile.
8 out of 10.
FTR - G4 was better too - fewer, less intrusive breaks than with the MS conference. They really need to find a better way to do this next year. And if these continue to be televised, both MS and Nintendo need to spice up their conferences to show it. This isn't being watched by millions of shareholders - this is going out to their core audiences, and I think we want to be wowed.
Are there any higher quality videos of the conference available? I listened to it on Kotaku's live feed, but couldn't see much. Very interested in seeing the SMG and SMK footage.
I'm disappointed by the lack of a Kid Icarus game and the lack of Disaster Day of Crisis stuff. Unfortunately, as has been said, E3 has become a press event and these games were too small for mainstream press attraction. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Folks I've got the feeling the big hits will come at the Tokyo Game Show. Animal Crossing, Pikmin etc. Japan made games...
