I have not got around to buying this yet, as I'm playing Ninja Gaiden 2 ATM. But this game really looks amazing to me. My gamestop is sold out (they don't even have a display case). I think it was undershipped.

Still, from what I have seen, I have to put Lost Oddyssey above it. LO is, IMO, the best JRPG released this gen. I'm not including the DS, of course.

This game looks like a solid #2 though behind LO.

Yeah, a lot of people hold LO in high esteem. I'm not one, but I respect those opinions.

Anyway, yeah, the game is relatively hard to find. I had to go to three gamestops to get it. If you think this game is significantly worse than LO, I think you might be in for a pleasant surprise. Especially if you're an anime fan.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

In my eyes it is the GOTY already. I had more fun and more wanting to play this than any other game this year. (Tales of Symphonia could prove me wrong)

I love you
Namco!
NOW PLEASE RELEASE NAMCOXCAPCOM!

Well it may have a shot as far as personal opinions and some smaller sites, but I think in general its critic scores that it currently has preclude it from RPG of the year for most larger sites, since their awards are rarely surprises anyway. This is not to say that it isn't a great game, but it's been reviewed by some as mediocre, and that's how they will look at it when they pass out awards.

Actually, I don't think it's really worse than LO at all. It's just that LO's style fits my JRPG tastes more than ToV does. I like the art-style LO a lot. Because of that, I'd say it's visualy better, though ToV is pretty amazing looking too. And I love turn-based stuff lol.

I would say that ToV just offers a different JRPG experience than LO and it does what it does just as well. I just like LO's style more. That might change though when I buy ToV. For all I know, it could end up being my 2fav JRPG(nothing can top my 1st).

There are quite a few IU user reviews, and breakdowns of key good/bad points. It seems that IU winds up being a phenominal game once you get past the initial crappy first hour or two...But it's no where near as polished as ToV.

IU is considered to be a prototype to SO4 while ES was a sort of prototype for ToV. IU is a very flawed game as a result of coming out too soon.

Wait how could ES be a prototype to ToV, I haven't played ToV yet and will be picking it up this week, but as an avid Tales fan, I see very little in common...I mean have they drastically changed the battle system? Storyline wise as well, I haven't played the new Tales but from playing the old ones they all have large similarities in plots and characters. If ES allowed you to explore the real world than I could see it happening, but in every Tales game (developed by the lead team) you go through two worlds. Might even be all except the portable ones, I don't remember much of Legendia because that was my least favorite. They should never have the Soul Calibur team do a tales game again.

Zen, and I agree. Most of these people are idiots reviewing ToV.

It boggles the mind that it's receiving the SAME scores Eternal Sonata did. WTF? How is Eternal Sonata in the same league as Tales of Vesperia? That's like comparing Beyond the Beyond with Final Fantasy VII.

Even I don't think I did the game enough justice in my review, and I gave it a 9.

The review system is too ****ed up. I think major companies "buy" reviews.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Haven't played it yet so couldn't tell ya. And no I'm not going to take your word on it haha sorry.

Yeah, I agree. Thought, I think, like Persona 3 before it, it might take Gamespots rpg of the year award, if Fallout and Fable flop. They reviewed it really strong.

Nobody that I know who has actually played the game, didn't like it. I'd take the Pepsi challenge with Vesperia verses whatever rpg you wanna lay down in front of it.

Don't take our opinions. Do rent it or buy it, and see for yourself. Never take anyone's word as law.

@Zen....well it depends....there are still some RPG's coming out that could outdo it. Specifically Persona 4
