LoL I didn't even noticed this thread till now . How long has it been up 0_o ? Anyways nice work .

Since about 7-8AM eastern time, I was working on it after not being able to sleep cause of my cold this morning, it took me about an hour to get all the info compiled.  I'll keep the thread up to date with any new info I find, more pictures, and videos of course I'll probably put it on the second page cause this first page is about maxed out as it is.

Why is it that every time I post a question regarding LAN, no one ever responds to it? Does ANYONE even know what LAN is about? You guys make me wonder. =P

The LAN is wireless system link for the Conduit I believe.  Which means no sucky cords to fool with.  LAN support is great not to mention so many people have a Wii now so a few buds a few TVs someone bring the alcohol (or Mountain Dew for some of you =P) You can have a great game night.

How would that even work? I couldn't imagine me and my buddies parking our sets in the same room to play LAN with. I suppose if we all had like small 19 inch sets, but what about people that don't play our Wii's on computer monitor sized TVs? LAN isn't really a suitable alternative to splitscreen when many people play a Wii on a 32 inch plus TV, and lugging that thing around would be a burden.

I will definitely get this day 1 if i could, but I will be in Europe at that time so I will have to wait a bit longer to play this gem.

Well me and my friends kinda do that haha we get our TV's I got 2 TVs for myself personally 3 if I can use my folks big screen, but really me and my friends have done it plenty with halo it was a little bit easier cause we would have 2 per TV but we have plenty of TVs to make it even bigger, so I guess it's for real hardcore Wii players lol

I have a hard enough time asking my friends to bring their controllers over. TV sets and consoles are out of the question. If I do end up getting the Conduit, I think i'll stick with online play.

Just a couple of points with links coming up later but some things that were cleared up in a newer interview.

  • Assuring everyone there is NO SPLITSCREEN the quote that everyone took to mean there was splitscreen was used out of context.
  • With their engine and grpahics pushing the Wii like it is splitscreen is impossible as it's too taxing on the power of the Wii, which could hurt chances of splitscreen in The Conduit 2.
  • The lead designer contradicted the original word about the Quantum 3 engine, which stated the engine would be licensed out as middleware and would help developers with graphics, the lead designer stated "we're no middleware company and have no plans to license out the engine at this time"  though they have said people have contacted them to license the engine.  Hopefully that may be a miscommunication with different parts of the studio or just his opinion cause that would be a great help to Wii development for third parties and a way to help kill shovelware.
  • MotionPlus and WiiSpeak confirmed.

good discussion of The Conduit's tech, more info from far more knowledgeable people then I: http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=47707  It gets a bit off topic at the end but the start has some good info all around.

New videos

Older videos

Video of the first trailer that I forgot to upload.

Gametrailer video of the tech in the Conduit.

IGN has a couple of new gameplay videos and they're pretty long.  Shows off the game pretty well.

That's the whole conference playthrough about 16 minutes long.

Now there should be no reason for the bickering over The Conduit, either you like it cause it's a good effort on the Wii that looks nice or you don't cause it's not your type of game.

Also a Quantum 3 tech demo for the Wii, this is the engine that other developers can licsense and use on their own Wii games, and might turn out to be the Wii's own Unreal Engine of sorts if it takes off.

They took that from IGN and then took it out of context... it never said SPLITSCREEN they've been asked MULTIPLE times on the subject and said that the offline multiplayer would be LAN, they've had LAN up and running since they started on online mode cause it was their testing medium and now they're looking to Nintendo to see if it's ok to keep that in the game.  And NO the LAN option isn't confirmed but it's already up and running, and there's no real reason for Nintendo to say no.  So don't call me ignorant when you don't even know where the original quote came from =P IGN IS the source for almost all info on The Conduit.  So before you go and jump on someone actually know what you're showing people.

1) I have never seen that quote, or anything near it, on IGN. Podcast or written.

2) They have been asked a lot about it and until that quoted statement, they had been saying no. That is very true. I have seen no retraction since the statement was allegedly made so I am not sure if I should run with you or not. I do know that after this post, I will google the topic and see what I can come up with. Be it for or against me.

3) I understand that keeping LAN makes sense but we all know companies will do things that are quite contrary.

4) I did not jump on you. I just thought you were ignoring me. Hence me calling out ignorance.

On another topic:

LAN is awesome fun. Lugging around televisions can be a pain but my house has two televisions and two consoles so we are already set for when the game comes out. People that have 19 inch televisions do not like splitting the screen so it would be a great option to have LAN. Plus, hiding on split screen is near impossible since, "spying" is absoultely impossible to avoid.

Both should be an option. There is no reason why split screen should not be there, and there is no reason why LAN should not be there. Online as well. Even if the split screen is for only two players, it would be better than only LAN and online play. Options are good.

I can understand that, personally I love LAN and hate splitscreen it's always irritated me, I never really liked Mario Kart 64 for multiplayer cause I hated looking at the small box, and the fact that I am a big PC gamer so LAN is more natural for me.  We're probably going to have The Conduit/Starcraft 2 LAN parties and play a bit of smash in between (sounds like my high school years but replace Starcraft 2 with Starcraft brood war, Brawl with Melee, and The Conduit with Counterstrike)
