Forums - Nintendo - PSP vs DS...

Well, now it gets interesting. Sony is releasing the PSP 3000 in Japan, only a matter of time before it comes to the US. Nintendo will release a silver DS, and other than a new color, no change in the system. It looks like Sony is trying all they can to compete with the DS, including a microphone in the 3000! When can we expect to see a PSP with a touch screen?

No PSP touch screen, though possible in the Next Generation of handhelds.

i think sony knew they could improve certain things over time from their handheld when they started out...

Adding a microphone in the PSP now it pretty dump. What are they going to do about games that utilize it? That's like suddenly making a new DS with two touch screens. It'll either alienate many PSP gamers, or it will go largely unused.

touch screen will be the standard in next gen handhelds, or at least that what i think it should be

The microphone will be useful for online chat, and voice-recognition games like SOCOM.  Basically, you'll be able to do whatever you do with a headset, without the headset.  It's a good thing.

But it still won't hold a candle to the DS

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
