Forums - Sales - Eternal Sonata PS3 first week sales > LTD sales of 360 version? (JAPAN)

*sigh*

friggin' babies...

If it sold equally to the Xbox title:

Ha, we sold equally. Shows that PS3 can sell JRPG
- but you have way more consoles sold, so this is pretty weak!
but it's a year old port
- but you had extra's
but it wasn't hyped
- but it was "perfected".

If it ends up selling less:
you sold less, weak!
- year old port
but on a better selling system with extra's
- ps3 owners don't want some leftovers

If it sold more:

Ha, we sold more!

- but you have more systems

but it's a year old game

- but with extra's

but it's still a year old game

- goes to show how starving the PS3 owners were..

You're all using the same answers, depending on the outcome.

Friggin' babies.

There should've been a "PS fan" "xbox fan" option at registration and none of those two groups should then be able to post in the opposing section aside from a "free-for-all-crygroup"-forum.

from the information i had get is Eternal Sonata PS3 first day sales is 22K
http://ameblo.jp/sinobi/entry-10141138598.html

ES is targeted towards a Japanese audience so it could easily outsell the X360 version of the game where 360 install base is one quarter of PS3's install base.

PS3 have a higher percentage of JRPG fans than X360 owners.

PS3 version of ES could double the sales of 360 version.

X360 version of Eternal sonata has only sold 270k according to VGChartz sale data. So PS3 version selling 500k+ is possible.

Super, how is it going to do that, with a start well below the X360 version in Japan?

It's very doubtful that the Playstation 3 version will beat the X360 version out, if it can't get a good start in Japan.

PS3 JRPG fans will have to wait for WKC, or VC to garner big sales in the East and West.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

LOL
I said that japanese devs better hope this sells well on PS3. Looks like it won't.
Which just validates once more what I believe: japanese devs screwed themselves with their stupid strategy this gen.
I'm sure they've started regretting their stupid moves.
What's happening is what I thought would happen: they're diluting their brand and games.
And the West is not making up for the poor japanese sales.
Really pathetic.

With the failure of ToV (their expectations were 500k sold between Japan, NA and Asia before end of 2008), I bet Namdai has finished sweating and is now in panic mode.

I agree. With all these RPG's going 360 exclusive, the devs might earn more (because of the MS money), but they are selling less copies thus loosing fans. And that is something which is bad for every JRPG fan. I really, really hope WKC will sell good wordwide.

so actuaaly it is only <25K. wow

and weekly hardware sales will be < than 10K

PS3 have a higher percentage of JRPG fans than X360 owners. Proof ?

Let's see (Japan Only):

Eternal Sonata (360) first week sales: 47,460     -    today 79,861

                                  360 hardware sold: 404,055   -    today 715,784

                                                  attach rate: 11,7 %     -    today 11,2 %

Eternal Sonata (PS3) first week sales: 40,000 (estimated)

                                  PS3 hardware sold: 2,372,286

                                                  attach rate: 1,7 %

PS3 version of ES could double the sales of 360 version. In Japan ? doubtful

X360 version of Eternal sonata has only sold 270k according to VGChartz sale data. So PS3 version selling 500k+ is possible. 360 data doesn't include Others numbers. 300k+ for PS3 version seems more likely

ouch !

Well... I think that White Knight Story has a lot of responsability now... depending on the sales of that game, devs are going to decide if they want to continue making RPG's for the PS3 or not.

Disgaea, Valkyrie, Eternal Sonata, Enchanted Arms, Folklore and almost every other PS3 RPG hasn't sold more than 200,000, and that's very little, specially for RPG's in Japan.

At this TGS we are going to see a lot of RPG's moving to the DS and Wii...

Nonsense!
The PS3 has yet to get an original (meaning not a port) traditional JRPG (meaning that is not a SRPG).
IIRC Shirokishi monogatari will be the first.
And according to what I've seen of it, I think people put too much hope in this game.
To me, it seems like the only thing that can sell the game right now is the Level 5 name.
But it will be the first one.

We basically don't know how a port's sales will behave, thus why I never predicted anything in this thread.
You never know who bought the original and who will buy the port.
Given the first sales of Trusty Bell in Japan, it looks like only those that bought it on XB360 (and sold it back surely) then bought it back for the additional content on pS3 (and thus surely to sell the PS3 back after this, if they bought one for this game).

These Namdai games are epic failures sales wise. Way to go Namdai!
That's pushing them even more to the only other and obvious alternative.
