Forums - Sales - Elusive xbox 360 numbers

It seems that the 360 is the hardest console to track among the current gen.

Today, the 360 went from 10.13M to 10.04M, "returning" 90k units back to the stores. This is not the first time this happened, almost every other week, the 360 numbers need to be adjusted down significantly.

The other two consoles rarely get readjusted downwards.

So, I was wondering what makes over-estimating on the 360 so common?

my guess.. because everyone thinks its outselling everything everywhere.. in reality NOT !!!

The weirdest thing is the attach rate seems to be going up with every decline. Apparently, 360 owners are game junkies.

Its usually because the "other" numbers are revised downward. I would think these numbers are allot less "solid" than the Japan and NA numbers. The Wii would seem the easiest to track as it seems to consistently sell out. Why the 360 would be any harder to track than the PS3, I wouldn't know.

yea you're probably right, same thing happened with DS and PSP, they're just harder to track, and since europe doesn't have any official kind of sales tracking, it's obivous it is very VERY hard to make numbers. Extrapolations out of extrapolations, sort of, you get the drift.

Actually, Gamerscore doesn't garner more software sales, just software rents.

The 360 has the best library by far, is it any wonder the 360 is @ 6.0 attach ratio or so in the US?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I think because of the good reviewed game lineup. With a supposedly strong library like this it seems the 360 should have steady (or slightly increasing) sales while in fact they are stalling or declining.

I think it's stalling because of the high failure rate.

Very true! Gamefly must make a killing off of 360 owners looking to boost their gamerscore.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
