Forums - Sales - PAL Charts, Week 35: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 First Week

Tiger Woods for the Wii is the one that simulates the golfing experience, I would have expected that to sell more. Wonder why it did not.

@Seneque
I doubt the PS2 is dead yet, this is not PES or FIFA. It's golf and if someone wanted a golf game for the PS2 they can get a 2nd hand one for a few quid.

As I mentioned before, Wii games have legs. It's a huge mistake to judge Wii games on first week sales.

The PS2 had no games in the top 40 either, so the UK has pretty much moved on.

The Wii version of Tiger Woods should have better legs like most Wii games. I expect it to become the best selling version of that game within a couple weeks in the UK.

The PS2 and PSP seem dead in the UK, neither version even charted. No DS version seems like yet another dumb EA move.

caugh*Madden09*caugh

Nota benne: not everything sells well on the DS even if it has hundreds of million units out there, and sports games usually do much better on the PSP ;)

too human just for 3 days, and still goes into top 10, next week it will definitely still on top 10.

3 days is pretty much for 1st week. Most games are only tracked for 1 day during their 1st week release, so it will probably bomb in PAL teritories to...

Bad Ass sales for MKWii and Wii Fit. Tiger Woods 09 Wii will be the best selling version, I'm impressed it almost matched 360's sales on week 1. Next week legs will start to show up.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

they are not giving any hardware numbers or data since GFK got charttrack

@John_Doe: They didn't give much hardware infos before GFK takeover anyway. So nothing really changed.

Denmark added in second post. Pixeline domination is finally over.

yes, but a little is far away from nothing, and at least, we used to have a little idea about hardware numbers. Now we only have vgchartz, and i'm not sure what to think about vgchartz numbers without GFK official info. Sure, ioi is doing a great job, but europe data is not easy to track...

Replaced by 'The Sims 2' domination. If you count the extensions, there are 8 'The Sims 2' games in this top. To think that I was somehow complaining about that a few posts above. :)

And a really PC dominated country. And, my, 'Madden NFL 09' even appears there. I can understand for the United Kingdom, but in Denmark too ?

I've said that this week, but I could have said it the previous weeks too. Outside 'Lego Indiana Jones', it's been months since a PS2 game made it to the top of the chart. Usually, there's 1 or 2 titles in the chart, but at the bottom. And in most often cases, there's no title at all (like this week or 2 weeks ago).

But even having one title at the top wouldn't make the platform more alive either. It would appear more as an exception (a last beat) than a rule. The best example is that, for the week ending on the 16th August 2008, there's an original x-Box game (Madden NFL 09) in the American's top 20 (according to VGChartz). And, yet, the x-Box is what we can call, officially dead.

For your last point, what you said is true for the 360 too (isn't that the 4th version it gets ?), as well as the PS3 and the Wii (the 3rd version, I think). I'm not sure it has so much impact. And then, if it had, wouldn't PES or FIFA be affected too ?

Lombard has sent me a PM : though he has come back, he won't do the PAL charts threads anymore. He's sorry, but he has found some new other "interests" (so goes life), and somehow lost those he had in Video-Games. He may not even come to the site anymore.

So, from now on, these threads will need other 'officials' to maintain them alive. Maybe having one user to post each country, as well as one thread starter, would be more efficient. But that's only my take on it.

Personally, my presence here is random, so I won't be able to help.
