Forums - Gaming - What system was pushed the farthest graphically? (Lots of pics)

Hmm.

I would say either the SNES with games like Star Ocean and Bahamut Lagoon, or the PS2 with God of War 2.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

With games like Driving Emotion Type S, the PS2 is the current title holder.

And since the Wii is in a similar situation right now (games not pushing it at all), it will be the furute "system to be pushed the farthest".

Not sure about all the Genesis launch games, but compare Altered Beast to Phantasy Star IV.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

The PS1 and the PS2 both did things people said they were incapable of year after year. Every generation Sony shows what they expect their consoles to do and people call them liers, only to be proved wrong 4 or 5 years later.

Take history as an example. Buy 2010 we will see games that are more graphically apealing in many aspects than the Killzone trailer ever was.

One thing that always impresses outside of Sony is just how good F5 did with RS on the GC. Seeing that pic reminded me of just how much more the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube still had left in them.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

KBG29 on PSN&XBL

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Twilight Princess as the best looking Gamecube game. I think it's graphics were superior to RE4's. I have to say that the NES made the biggest leap from start to finish. I think Tiny Toons Adventures was one of the best looking NES games.

Will someone please put up some Microsoft comparissons? I don't know anything about XBox, but I am really interested in seeing how it advanced.

That's one of the main reasons I believe this generation was rushed.  The guys crafting Star Wars Force Unleashed on the PS2 are saying that they're still finding new tricks buried in that hardware.  The Xbox and GameCube were both killed long before their full potential had been tapped.  Seeing that picture of Rebel Strike again actually makes me rethink how impressed I am with The Conduit.  In reality, games that look as good as The Conduit should be the norm on the Wii, not the other way around.  After RE4, Rebel Strike and some of the other GC offerings, I'm even more convinced that the Wii is capable of some outstanding graphical quality.

The PS2 was milked to its last juice. Look at MGS3, KH2, DQ VIII, ZOE: The 2nd Runner...

I could not agree more. It seems like most devs focus completely on the control scheme for their Wii games and completely ignore the graphics... Oh well....

btw, that screen from SW:RS2 on the GC is just breathtaking. Those vehicle models are almost as good as the ones in Warhawk. Damn shame the system got the axe so soon....

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

time to reborn this thread.
Come on people lets see some more comparaisons.

Golden Sun 2 called. It has better graphics than Minish Cap...
