Well, both Pontiac and Ferrari had GTOs in the 1960s. Both were cars that went fast.

And just remember that MK Wii won the voted-upon Gphoria Award from G4/Xplay for best racer in 2008.

In other words, this game has lots of appeal and will continue to have lots of sales, even though it is very different than what a lot of people think of as a racer.

The hardcore simulation game is in pretty bad shape, when was the last time a F1 racing simulation (you know the kind you found yourself in the wall at the first turn on realistic setting) game sold well, or for that matter, came out?

There is no way a hardcore simulation would sell the number GT do, they are too f*cking hard. Not a bad thing mind you, never was able to finish one race anywhere near first place on one of those so I'll take GTV over them any day of the week, not everybody is Schumacher you know. Or maybe it's just my habit of avoiding the brake button at all cost, dunno. In any case I can at least enjoy GT, racing simulation, not so much.

Lol funny all the Sony Fanboys defending their beloved GT series.

btw everyone - Racing games ARE CASUAL games. I know tons of people who play games but arent into it as much as me. My friends step-dad was 30 something and still played racing games.
Racing games/Sports games are the most casual games of all.

MKWii has a huge chance of doing so. It has sold more than 7M copies in 4 months. For comparisons sake, MK:DD sold that amount in more than 4 years. This game is gonna be huge, more than it is right now.

I also think comparing a game in the Racing genre with another one in the Racing genre is completely valid, even if it hurts.

That's one of the very few games I can think of where all kinds of different gamers come together to say horrible things to each other as they get blue shelled right before the finish line.

For crying out loud...

If you cannot compare games within the same genre, you can't compare anything.

You can compare Final Fantasy Tactics to Fire Emblem

You can compare GTA with The Godfather

You can of course compare MKWii to GT

You can change your own rules while "playing", but it's annoying as heck.

MK Wii has nothing on the GT series. I can not really see MK series being the next GT series in regards to sales. Where are the Prologue Mario Kart games? GT series a real life racer simulation whereas MK series is based on fictional characters. Both series sell well to two completely different audiences.
