My DS is a year old and I get 12 - 15 hrs/charge on the 3rd brightest setting. Maybe you need a new battery.

My PSP-2000 lasts a good 3-4 hours before needing a recharge, and I always play games at max screen brightness. I also never play UMD movies, and I never have the WLAN switch on.
The time varies largely with the game -- older games clock down the CPU of the PSP to 222 or 277 MHz, and newer ones run it at a full 333 MHz, which influences the battery life alot. The PSP-2000 runs a good bit longer than the PSP-1000, on the same battery, in my experience, so losing a bit of time on the PSP-3000 (relative to the 2000), for even better color and contrast isn't a big deal, IMO.
Besides, the PSP-2000 comes with a wimpy 1200 mAh battery (it uses a LOT less power than the PSP-1000, or at least that's my experience). Sony themselves sell a 2200 mAh battery, and you can get batteries for the PSP with up to 3600 mAh.

I never even thought of looking for a better replacement battery. Who makes these?

Offices usually do, planes don't as far as I know (though I haven't flown on anything larger than a 757 in years) |
What? 757s are some of the biggest commercial jets out there, particularly for domestic travel.
Anyhow, no, planes don't have outlets on them.

Whoops, I was thinking 757's weren't the bigger ones. I only pay so much attention to the plane type when I fly. >_>

DS lite has a battery power of 20 hours, give or take. PSP has a battery life of 10 hours playing games, 12 hours playing music (with the screen off) and 3 hours playing movies.
DS has two screens and it's battery power is double that of PSP, kind of sad dontcha think? |
The Nintendo DS contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 850 mAH
The PSP includes an 1800 mAH
do some research please
Personally, I think that 20-30 minutes is a small price to pay for a brighter screen, better colors and most importantly: no more streaks.
It's all about the response time.

1200mah since the slim.
now if you compare CPU graphic chip
those 3 extra hours aren't much better.
